  • Ran the Camaro and the Corvette!

Hey guys, just hit up the 1/8 mile, only got a few runs in, but I plan to go back soon! Ran the Camaro twice, and twice in the Corvette. First time at the track for both. I have to get the other timeslip on the Vette from my dad, but here is what my Camaro ran.

    First run:

    .2575---Reaction
    2.4778---60 ft
    7.0088---330 ft
    10.6703---1/8 ET
    67.74----1/8 MPH

    Second run:

    .5243---Reaction
    2.5621---60 ft
    7.1152---330 ft
    10.7915---1/8 ET
    67.40---1/8 MPH

    First run in the Corvette:

    .1108---Reaction
    2.0462---60 ft
    6.0438---330 ft
    9.3200---1/8 ET
    74.71---1/8 MPH

Tips and suggestions guys? This was my first run at the track for both, my father drove the Corvette and I drove my Camaro.

Only mods on the Camaro are 3 inch Rumbler w/ 3 inch Catco Cat, and Whisper Lid.

hmm i expected more from the vette than that! i trap 79-80ish in the 1/8th.

as for the maro.. looks like its coming along pretty well! now get on that lsd and gears project and those 60's will come down with some practice.

The Vette has sooo much more potential in it, my dad really babied it. My dad hasn't been to the track in 20+ years, and even then that was in an old 74 Z28. We plan to go back soon, and I hope the times will come down. I know if I can get my 60 down, my ET will fall also. If I got down to about a 2.2 60, what would that make my ET?

The usual rule of thumb is for every tenth (.1) in your 60', its .2 at the end of the track. Thats what it is for the 1/4 at least, so i'm assuming that if you brought it down to a 2.1 you'd run somewhere in the high 9s

Wow, would a 2.1 be possible with my mods and on street tires?

With our power I think a 2.0 on street tires is about all you'll be able to get down into. The best 60ft on street tires I've seen period was a 1.8 by a GTO.

When i say street tires i mean street radials meaning drag radials dont count; and if you say he did it on street radials i say bs and want a video.

street tires. no bs i have the slip sitting in my bedroom. if i ever get a chance to go over to my moms ill scan it and post it up (hopefully ill make out that way this week and do it). i have no reason to lie about it :) . maybe it was just luck and a freak happening but it did happen. my trap is a little low becuase i let off a little bit before the 1/4 mile mark. and trust me i wish i would have had a video camera there that day so i could post it but i dont. :( the car hooked very well and scared the **** out of me on that run since i usaully get some tire spin off the line. that run = very little tire spin.)

i normally cut 2.0-1.9 60's so i was pumped about it. it'll probably never happen again though lol.(at least not until i get some drs)

The Vette has a 460ci engine and ran similar to a high 14 second pass?

I cut 2.0s all day in my 3.4L on street tires (not drag radials)

                        on my 15.4 run I ran 2.027 I think.

LSD and on 235 Cooper Cobras I believe.

I'd start with just practice and go from there.

Little things like tire psi and launch rpm will affect times

                            Congrats
