  • what am i doing wrong?

i went to atco last winter, it was 32* out, i had my subs in the back, my tires were pretty much bald, etc.
    i ran a 15.281 @ 88.5 with a 2.19 60'

i went back to the track 2 weeks ago, after having done a whisper lid, k&n air filter, and a TSP catback. i also removed my subs, and got new rear tires.
    i ran a best of 15.279 @ 88.5 with a 2.14 60'.

judging from these times, what should i try to concentrate on now? i have 3.42's, should i go lower (3.73)?
should i get a posi to try to improve my 60'?
    suspension?
just go for power? (nitrous, headers, cam, etc.)

would the sticky tires make a big difference even though im not really making enough power to not be able to get traction?

Re: what am i doing wrong?

The difference in DA between 32° and 60° is 2,000 feet.

NHRA uses .9853 for a 1900' elevation ET correction factor.

That means your 15.279 would have been a 15.054 at the same temp as your first run.

          http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/altitude.html

To calculate your DA you need temp, barometric pressure, dew point and this calculator.

          http://www.nawcwpns.navy.mil/~weathe...acalc_stnp.htm

its an A4. im not sure exactly where i was launching, im sure it could have been higher though.

and trust me, nitrous is coming ASAP. im just trying to find a used kit for somewhere around $450. not many good ones popping up.

Look at it this way. If it hadn't been so cold the first time your ran your car, it would have done 15.4 - 15.5

You've dropped 2 tenths with your intake and cat-back. If you really want to see that 15.0 then just wait until it gets real cold again and go back to the track. :)

it was still pretty damn cold when i ran it this last time. it wasnt 30*, but it was probably 45 or 50.

anyone have a nitrous kit for sale? :p

Just be wary if you go with a used kit you are buying used parts. If one solenoid gets stuck open there will be dire consequences.

Don't jump on a nitrous kit right away.

You really haven't given us much info to work with.

Give us all mods, complete run (60, 330, 1/8, 1/4 etc).

Launch rpm, track temp, condition etc.

                            Then we procede from there

With a 2.1 60 foot your still not getting traction.. With sticky tires and LSD you could launch at a much higher rpm, meaning more in your power band and knock some 10th's off your 60'.. every 10th off the 60' is usually 2 tenth's off your et..
