• Anybody have reccomendations for Nitto NT555RII tires pressures?

Just got a set of 275/40-17 Nitto NT555RII track tires for the camaro, mounted on replica Z06 wheels (17x9.5 all around). Anybody have any reccomendations for tire pressure to start off with for an autocross event? I'm guessing the pressure should be higher than a normal street tire range? Next autocross event here is July 3rd... at night!

This thread from frrax.com (fbody autox and road racing forums) might help:

whats up with my 555r2's?, It seems i can never get pres. right

Don't mean to scare you with the thread title, but it's the only one I found with pressures.

You do know that the 555RII's aren't technically legal for SCCA? Not made in enough sizes (I'd to try some one my car if they made my size)

Thanks for the link, got it book marked . I actually didn't know about the legality issue of the tire for autocrossing, but I really bought them for roadcourse driver events. I wanted to get a little feel for how they handle at an autocross event before using them on track.

I'm new to F-bodies, but thusfar I really like the "mid engine" V6 camaro choice I made...very nice rotation, even with the stock open differential. And I thought I had my Toyota Tacoma setup for neutral handling before I got the Camaro recently

I wouldn't worry too much about tire protests unless you're in the running for trophies

If you want to race your camaro on courses that involve turns, I'd join frrax.com. It's an awesome resource for all areas of making your f-body perform on road courses and autocross. Bunch of national and regional champions, guys who design our suspension upgrades (Strano, Lou G), and more.

Have fun at the event tonight!
