its possible but its gonna cost ya. first thing i would do is get lsd and better gears. 3.73s seem to be the best for 3.4s. pick up some headers and a highflow cat to open the exhaust. look into cams also. that should help smooth out the powerband a little bit. and LOTS of weight reduction. im sure someone else will chime in with some other stuff but this is just things i was planning for my 3.4 before i got rid of it.

btw the real problem with the 3.4s is that you can rarely find someone to tune them. tuning is very important.

If he wants 14's in a 3.4, he's gonna want more than 3.73s.

I got my ol 95 3.4 A4 (100k plus milage) into the high 14's.

85 dry shot of nitrous, 3.73, z28 takeoff LSD, and the regular stuff (cai, exhaust, plugs, wires....) Oh yeah, and aluminum driveshaft <-- really makes a difference IMO as the steel 2 peice was heavy as all hell!

Not sure if I ran the best with my cutout open or shut....

The 3.73's sucked on my auto, but should be great on the 5 speed.

As far as trans mounts, I heard the GM ones were the best.

intake, full exhaust, 4.10s and wet nitrous and youll have 14s easily. (13s depending on the shot)

Here is an old trick for ya, put two hose clamps on the mount ..... It limits the distance the mount can stretch.....

it is easy and not really that expensive. the 3.4 is like any other gm product, full of potential and not even close to optimized.
how quick you can make one really comes down to what you are willing to live with or without.
go for at least 4.10 gears, 4.56's would be optimal.
tuning is important. you want real custom programming, not some off the shelf bs or mail order crap. get the car data logged and have a proper chip made.
making a car quick is about matching parts, not just buying the shiney nitrous bottle or other popular part of the week.

what about some boost anybody here running boost on a 3.4 i was looking at some t3 turbos maybe like 5,6 psi or is that on overkill for a 3.4...let me get this straight there is no tune software for the 3.4

4.56?

on question for you rudy, is this your primary car or just a project car? 4.10s would be the highest i would go if this is a daily driver. but i still say 3.73s would be just fine with the right supporting mods.

as for you question about turbos...http://www.force-fed-fabrications.com/index2.htm check them out to get an idea of what youre looking at with boost

with no tuning software it would be tough..i dunno how you'd change for the gear ratio so you dont hit the speed limiter..maybe a dealer could do it..id just get 4.10s and spray a 100 shot..Jerriko ran 13.4 or 13.5 in a 3.4 and i think he just did a crapload of tuning somehow and a 150 shot..or yes..theres always the turbo kit..but i would think you would still somehow need tuning

There is tuning software, it's just not flash programable. You can burn chips for the 3.4 just like all the third gen guys do for their cars, and the 1st gen W-body guys do for their cars.
