• I thought new gears would help my time?

I went to the track last night for the first time since getting my 3.42 gears with posi.
here was my best time:

R/T ____.231
60'_____2.343
330'____6.621
1/8_____10.186
MPH_____69.59
1/4_____15.877
MPH_____85.85

WTF is wrong? These times are about the same times I have been running with my 3.08 gears with open dif. I know the shop installed the new gears because afterwards the speedo was way off.
Any ideas? Maybe track prep was just bad or the weather played a factor.

If you have not corrected your shift points going from 3.08 to 3.42 won't be much faster because your shifting to soon.

I had the PCM flashed to show the new gears. That dosen't correct the shift points as well?

No, that is two seperate parameters in the computer. Changing the gear ratio in the computer would have nothing to do with the shift points. What kind of gears did you have installed and what was the break-in time?

I am not sure on the whole reflashing and what not....

But when I went from 3.23 open diff to 3.42s and lsd, my times were the same then the 2nd and 3rd time out I started to get results. I had a 5-speed so I made my own shiftpoints.

It could be a difference in the weather as well. It's hard to say especially when there is several weeks/months between runs. Give it another shot soon.

Seems like your spinning looking at the 60 ft. I run a little better than that with an open 3.42, just don't spin, you should hit 2nd right as you pass the 60ft mark. Oh yeah, I have a 3.4, so it's already slow

I have drag radials so I had no spinning at all. I guess it may have been the weather, it was really humid that night. I will see how it goes on the 28th. I was hoping for at least .3 - .5 quicker.

With 3.42's, limited slip, and drag radials, your 60' should be around 2.0, so I think that's your problem there, launch higher.

Drag radials only netted you 2.3+ 60'? You're not launching nearly high enough!

Definitely, since it was humid, you should not have had any problem hooking up. Byron is notorious for that and if you don't know about it, it sucks.

I've hit a 2.1 60' EASY on street tires. The answer is in your launch. You should be able to get a 2.0 or maybe even a 1.9 with DR's.
