• New NHRA rule T-top owners inside

Straight from the horses mouth(NHRA Tech GUY Danny Gracia) ALL TTOP CARS ARE NOW CONSIDERED OPEN COCKPITS. This means we have to follow the same rules as convertibles.
13.99 needs a rollbar and 10.99 needs a roll cage. Also if any car has a roll bar etc. then you MUST have a 5pt harness. Stock seat belts are not legal.

The new rule revision will be publisised in the National Dragster soon.

This is so Bullsh1t

roll bar in planning, I do NOT want to do 5pt... screw that. I'm gonna need a damn pit crew just to strap me in and let me out of my own damn vehicle.

I always wondered why they didn't make this a rule. The structure of a t-top roof is not safe in the event of a flip. I was looking to get one eventually, just for safety anyway. How soon is this rule going into effect?? Next Spring??

This is incorrect. On the Fbody, the T-top and "hardtops" have the exact same internal structure.

I was under the impression that the t-top roof was even more sturdy than the regular one.

This is true. The center brace is reinforced because of the lack of side braces on a ttop car.

I'm still trying to confirm this. I don't want a cage in my slow *** car.

This rule is effective as of now they are already kicking out people at HRP one of the fastest tracks around where almost every stock LS1 runs a 12.9.

Correct, after all Shirl, do you think some small piece of fiberglass is going to keep you safe in a rollover?

I've seen pictures of rollovers with f-bodies with t-tops and have always been quite amazed with how the t-top roof handles itself.

I definitely WON'T get a full cage, and I'm not keen on a rollbar. I'd be a lot more keen if I had some sort of large power adder. Until then, NHRA can suck my *****.

quote from a guy on corvetteforum.com:

I just got off the phone with John Miller Tech Service Rep for NHRA National Headquarters , in Glendora Cal. and he stated
" At this time there is no change to the glass/t-top rules, they will be considered a coupe and require a roll bar at 11.99, same as in the past"
He did tell me this was discussed at this past Tuesday rules meeting but no changes will be made now or in the near future."
