  • are we circling the drain?

i know im not the only one that's noticed it lately. but this place is getting slower and slower by the day. now this isnt a knock on steve or robert, but at the same time i think some of it does lie on them due to things not getting done around here.

we've needed ALOT of things changed for close to 2 years now. the site has grown to a point of being stale and unkept. most of it is small things that would make a huge difference IMO. even just things like some new forum skins, an extensively updated banner some house cleaning on mods who just arent here anymore. its hard to sit here and watch as this place collects dust and loses some of the most prominent members in the v6 community to other sites over the lack of concern shown on the backside of the site. i know its a task to keep things up to date constantly but for crying out loud the simple things only take a moment to do. members have been asking for small new things for months (or years in some cases) and gotten very little response or seen any of it come to fruitition.

ive been here for going on 6 years now and the last few years it has been a drastic decline day in and day out. i dont want to hear the excuse "well 4th gens are getting older blah blah blah" thats bs. sites like camaroz28.com have banged along just fine. then you add in the 5th gen now and i cant see any reason why this site shouldnt be blowing up right now with a flood of new gen v6s. but instead, here we are 6 months post launch and i dont think we've had a single new member come in with a 5th gen. this site is way to established to be this dead with a brand new car out.

ive done it before, but im going to do it again and offer my help. if you guys cant keep this site rolling along let someone who can help you!!!!!!!!!!!! i know you guys are busy doing your personal stuff, im just throwing it out there.

like it said, not trying to knock on you guys, but if something isnt done soon this site is on its way to an end.

eggggzactly... thats what ive been hinting at lately in my posts. the reason we dont have a strong 5th gen section is bc the have a car from 2009... and they dont want to post on a forum that is running 2006 graphics.

THE SPEED OF THE LEADER IS THE SPEED OF THE GAME

we have slack (absent) leaders and its really starting to show.

please aministrators hand the site over to someone so we can keep it going. i really dont want to see the best v6 f-body site die bc nobody would update graphics.

the most members ever on was in 2007.... so its not like u havent know for a while

I agree, even the site could use a facelift for sure and it would be nice to get a new 5th gen v6 section for the new guys. Just like the famous movie quote, "If you build it, they will come", same is true for the v6 5th gens, someone would stumble upon the new section and tell others and those would go on to tell more and it would grow, maybe not explode but it would grow for sure.

I can't say much right now, since i'm feeling a bit weak from lack of food. But apparently I'm here rather than eating. So wtf does that say? Seems like a lot to lose. I totally appreciate that the site is running but it's got enough support to run well. It's hard to believe that any car enthusiast, who is usually obliged to take care of their vehicle, can't put the slightest, if not same effort here. Almost hypocritical.

yeah and look at how it collects dust! i just find it nuts that we've had the 5th gen for this long and not a single person has signed up here with a 5th gen. then you go look at sites like cz28 and theyre everywhere, v6 and v8. they made the right moves to make sure that 5th gens started rolling in there, here there's nothing more than a section. no real info, nobody with any real knowledge of them. just nothing.

yeah, for a 4th gen that might be fine, but whats someone with a 5th gen going to do? not a damn thing here to help them out.

its the same on every site so its a moot point.

that was GM's strategy for our car, they were not advertised, and they did not sell.... that was the worst quote u could have ever used

and as pointed out, we have a 5th gen section, but no members

Re: are we circling the drain?

you see thats not the problem, go to google and put v6 camaro in and search it, its one of the first hits. and that in lies the problem. how does a site that comes up within the first 5 results of a google search NOT be booming right now?

it comes from letting things slide. so instead of coming here and sticking around, those potential members who are not impressed with the site ( due to things just not being updated etc) slide down the screeen, see the next potential home for them ( which would be ftv6) see how they offer the same info, but with better presentation and go there instead. i get the whole, "this is a site for tech" line but that doesnt keep good members around. members want the people who run the site to be actively involved and keep things updated when things start to get stale. we are stale. we've been sitting on the shelf for 2 years.

Re: are we circling the drain?

I totally agree with what's been said. We need updating and with that will come more active member and a wider variety of cars including the 5th gen. I'm a member of a fairly large amount of f-body sites, but this is the one I come to every day. I still feel this site has the largest technical database and the most helpful people. I tend to avoid the other big v6 site because I don't like the way it is run and the people there are not very inviting of newbies, and even so, there are members over there with 5th gens, and many of the v6 f-body enthusiasts are over there too because they have an updated site and all the sections they need. I'm glad we are specific to the F-body platform, but that doesn't mean we can't have more members and maybe bring back some of the old guys that were so knowledgeable that have left because of the lack of administrating here.

Re: are we circling the drain?

Hey, I put my .02 cents in at the Web stuff section.

I love this site. This site is clean, respectful, and very decent. Compare to other sites where they are insulting each other, too many cuss words, too many soft porns of girls, and members bashing each other's ride.

Not trying to insult our admins or anything, but how about selling this site to the members here who can maintain it.

I vote for Roger and Wes and Steve as well. The 3 members who are always here. Ofcourse, I'll always continue to sponsor this site and I'm willing to help out if ask.
