  • I bought a new toy :)

18' Stingray 180RX. Little sh*t does 50 mph on a 3 liter! If you know anything about boats, you know thats pretty impressive. It's pretty much the performance of the 4.3's with the gas mileage of the 3.0's. Can't complain with that.

I was going to buy a 22' Chaparral with a 5.7L. Big difference I know... But I got to thinking about gas mileage and the fact im going to have to buy a bigger truck to tow it, so I said to hell with that. Then I was looking at a 20' Monterey with a 225 hp 4.3L MPI, loaded for an excellent price. What a sweet boat. Anyone looking for a boat, that's the one to look at... I've shopped around, and that's the one that impressed me the most. But the land I was buying on the lake, the guy changed his mind, so considering I wouldn't have a place to keep it on the water, I couldn't justify spending that money on something you have to tow back and forth.

So here it is, my decision and my new summer toy! (By the way, with the economy the way it is right now, you can realllly low ball the dudes at the dealerships. Nows the time to buy!)

I even added a 12" subwoofer I had laying around just for the hell of it, haha.

Sacandaga. It's a tricky lake due to the shallow areas, but I been boating their for years on my parents boat, so I got to know it pretty well. It seems every time I go, there's always someone pulling their boat up on the trailer with a busted prop from running ashore. You think there's morons on the roads? Hah, people on lakes are three times as bad, especially at Sacandaga. With no requirement to have a liscence, you're sharing a lake with people who don't know their asses from their elbows.

Hell yea dude. I ski and tube and all that other crap, but I haven't tried wake boarding. I snowboard, so im wondering if it will feel a little more natural to me than skiing? I plan on learning this season. I was looking at a 19' Larson with a 5.0L and a Bravo 3 drive with wake tower and the whole 9 yards. But again, land fell thru, couldn't justify the money.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. Mostly I get negative comments from people who think boats are a waste of money. They can suck it, lol.

You won't have any problems wakeboarding if youre any good at snowboarding. Hardest part would be getting up, but once youre up its the exact same principle.

Well, that's what im hoping. I've tried slalom skiing with the hopes I can carve some ridiculous turns, but man it's a b*tch getting out of the water on one ski. I don't want to have to drop a ski either and worry about picking it up. Besides, thats a challenge in itself. Im guessing wake boarding will just come more naturally, except for the whole, lean on your trailing foot, not your lead foot like on a snowboard, unless you want a face full of water that is. :)

Theres not a bit of truth to that, ive snowboarded for years, and was a sponsered amatuer for 2 years.

I can't wakeboard to save my life, I think Ive had one decent run.

What's the hardest part? Getting out of the water? Turning? Can you water ski? I can get out of the water with ski's with no prob, and to me it seems like getting out of the water on a wake board has to be much easier? Guess I won't know till I get out there and try it.

Hardest part is definatley getting out of the water... I have waterski'd before, but really wasnt comfortable or having fun, but I can say it was easier to get out of the water with ski's. Too much resistance with that big @ss board pushing against the water.

Falling is the other worst part, and when you forget to let go of the rope and it nearly yanks your arms off your torso. OUCH.

No offense, but heres to hoping you just really suck at it and it's not really that hard, lol. Or else I'll be blowing 300 bucks on something I can't use... Feck that, I'll try and try again until im fatigued and nearly drown. :p
