Okay there are many new faces and some old ones so a hello is in order to all the new ones and a special hello to all the old ones still around. Anyways I wish I still had my Camaro as this board is far better than the S-10 ones hands down. Most people don't know much more than lowering the truck or installing door actuators. Anyways I know it is a long shot but I have a problem with my stinking truck and no one has been able to figure it out yet so maybe someone here can shed some light on the issue.

I have a 2000 Chevy S10 with the VIN W 4.3 V6 it misteriously started running like crap one day while driving. The computer is logging a lot of misfires, but cap and rotor look fine and were recently replaced. I replaced wires and plugs on the 2 cylinders that are having the problem which are on opposite sides of the block and not even across from each other no help. So I found the CSEFI had a poppet nozzle fuel shortage issue that is on the web my symptoms matched the issue so I replaced my entire fuel injection system to the newer CMFI system on the 03 and later 4.3L V6 engines. It still ran the same I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and it was a looked a little low at 53PSI book said 55-61 PSI so I replaced the fuel pump no resolve. MAF is okay as is the IAT and TPS, and I can't find any vaccuum leaks. I am getting ready to install a spark plug in the gas tank and a remote start system. I can't run the AC at all as the load it puts on the engine makes it stall. It has a noticable misfire at any RPM.

If anyone has any ideas no matter how far fetched I would appreciate it. Please remember when posting that I am stuck driving around a 92 Camry with fairies and other girlie stuff all over it and no power :(. Thanks for any help or just reading this.

Yeah that is one of the next things to check on my list. It runs good when a extra fuel source is introduced so I dunno if that eliminates that or not. It just pisses me of that whatever is doing this doesnt have its own code in the PCM.

        Re: Cursed 2000 S10

Well problem is now solved it was the cheap Auto Zone distributor cap that I bought earlier this year :(. According to the GM dealer service tech that I spoke to it is a common problem for them to go bad inside the cap where you can't see that it is bad. When I was replacing the cap I looked at the positions of the number 4 and number 5 cylinders posts on the inside of the cap and it turns out that they are next to each other on the cap. $700 later I now have a retro fitted fuel injection system, a new fuel pump/sending unit (my old sending unit was bad anyway), and a new cap and rotor. Next time I will remember KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) and replace the cheap parts first.
