  • My 1981 Firebird Trans Am

Well, the only thing better than having an Firebird is having 2 Firebirds. ;)

This is my 81 TA, it was one of my best friends cars, and he's had it for 7 years now. This was the first Firebird I had ever seen, and I've been obsessed with them ever since. The first time I drove in this car when I was 16 I fell in love, so when he told me he was desperate to sell because he was moving in to his new home with his fiance and their daughter, I couldn't pass it up. I bought it for an absolute steal, and I'm really happy I did. The car not only runs amazing, and looks great, but there is that sentimentality attatched to it which makes it all that much better!

and here is my custom painted shaker:

It's a Canadian car. Although engine options and everything were pretty much the same up here as they were for the states. Mine has a 5.0 V8 in it. The transmission has been rebuilt, and has a shift kit. The cat has been replaced with a straight pipe and has magnaflow mufflers. Sounds great, really purrs, not too loud and obnoxious either. The rear end has been replaced, and I'll assume it has better gears as well, as I've never been in a 305 powered 2nd gen that was this powerful. The engine as far as I know it has been pretty much left alone. Runs great though. And yea the formula hood looks awesome with the shaker! Thanks for the comments guys!!

Smokey and Bandit all over again! Very nice.

My friend, Jennings, has the black, good ole 455. It's a garage hog. He only takes it out for car shows.

                  Very cool car.

I love shaker hoods. I thought about trying to mod a hood for my FB attempting the old school shaker look.

                  congrats.

Thanks for the comments guys. ;)

SpeedingFirebird, I have seen a 4th gen with a shaker scoop, but it was a specialty TA, I can't remember exactly what it was for right off the top of my head, but I saw it in High Performance Pontiac about a year and a half ago or so. It was white with a blue stripe down the middle of it just like the 70-72 TA's had.

 I would love to see that. If you ever come across it again, send me a pic, please. I will have to keep my eyes out to see if I can find one.

I can't explain it, but I am in love with those shaker hoods. Just not sure how it would look on the 4 gen.
