• Bought a GTO

Had it for a few weeks, finally took a couple shots.

    2005 LS2 6 speed

A pic with my buddies new ride.

My other buddy bought a 97 T/A and snapped a shot of that with my bird.

When I went looking for cars, I wasn't considering the GTO. I wanted nothing to do with it. So I looked at G35 coupes, 350Z's, RX-8's, Mustang GT's and then old 02 WS6's. I was at the dealer when I heard about the GM incentives and the salesman convinced me to try a GTO even though I was hell bent on not getting one. Well, I drove it, and that sold me. I strongly suggest the GTO haters go look this car over in and out. My father felt the same way, then I took him to the dealer and he test drove it. His words, "Get it! Can I borrow it?" The interior quality, the comfort, the practicality, the feel of 400 horses, the stock exhaust note, the much lower insurance (Compared to other cars listed, even WS6), the best gas mileage all for 3 g's less then the cheapest car I mentioned. The interior is better than the Infinity for comparison.

My point being, if they called this car the G7, sales probably would have been tons better.

By the way, its a consumer guide best buy, lol, who knew?

That is a beautiful car. Congrats! I have liked the new GTO's since day 1, but I'm also a 97+ Grand Prix fan too.

And yea, I don't doubt it Kristen. Apparently these engines do not like the heat... at all... In this weather, its been running like a huge pile of crap. SLOOOW. The engine temp runs really high, and I haven't found out what to do about it yet. So right now my stock 97 bird can keep up with it I'll bet. :( I just started looking into the GTO forums and I see its a big problem for lots of people, wtf.

So right now im pretty pissed at how slugish its being since I bought it for the power, not the looks like the bird. And now its ball-less

nice. slap a vortech and an intercooler on the LS2, and you're in business.

being a former ('68) goat owner, I'm pretty partial to them; and while the new body style is low key and even ho-hum, the power is worthy of the 'grand turismo omalogato' designation....(too bad there's talk of GM ditching Pontiac and Buick.)

but personally, i wouldn't even look at a Mustang GT, or a 350Z

You gotta admit though, back in the 70's, the GTO's looked like every other car on the street, so basically low key and ho-hum. People expect bigger than life when they hear GTO and expect a retro stang style. Its no flashy T/A but I like it .

yeah, I hear ya. with all the Challengers/Chargers, GTXs, Grand Torinos, musclecar body stylings were definitely similar; a nice thing about the new GTO is that it's fairly light, and smaller.

                    I like it too

if no new camaro comes out, I'll save my pennies for a GTO or a C5.

I wasn't a big fan of them until I got to drive one. Then I fell in love with it. The interior is such a huge jump up for GM. Glad you like it... now slap an autocross grill on that thing

How much did you end up paying if you don't mind me asking. My mom wants one and I'm trying to get her to get it during the whole GM employee discount thing.

Yea I didnt want to say anything but I noticed that they werent that fast as well...

I saw a stock LS2 GTO dyno 300 rwhp over and over again....

Thats extremely low for 400 crank HP...

In comparison my stock 350 crank H vette dynoed 299 rwhp on the same dyno...

And then 351 rwhp after the LS6 405 crank HP conversion....

I also saw a LS2 GTO only run a best of 13.9 NA and only 13.5 with a 50 shot of NOS...

There just not performing the way they should...

But there still awesome cars...300 rwhp was low but still not nonthing to laugh at....

Thats about 80 more than my powerdyned camaro ever laid down..
