So I did the impossible. I got 5k out of a 1999 model with a recon/salvage title and 95k miles. Tomorrow morning she's going to a new home. I just hope they take care of her. So now I'm on the lookout for another one....... something less wrecked now, and hopefully with a few more horses......

but then again, I've got the GSXR 750 if I need speed.

I know Bibby...... I know....... I'm still pretty sad about it, but I guess as long as I don't total it on the way to the guys house this evening......... I'll probably cry when we leave the keys and title with him.

No, not really. That's high dollar right there. I got to keep my wheels/tires too. Hopefully they'll go on a suitable replacement. Maybe I'll start a "reasonable pay for salvage titles" trend. Heck I only paid 8900 for the car back in 2001 with 20,811 miles on it.

Had some good times with her, and I'm sure gonna miss her, but it's a deal I can't pass up. The guy handed dad a bank envelope yesterday and said "tell him not to back out now". So I counted the cash on the way home, and started cleaning out/up the car last night. One last detailing, one last wash, one last drive man.

Great, I'm sad again..... thanks Firebird19_99

Still haven't decided just yet. I'd like to stay away from anything over 12K so a used Z28/SS/Formula/TA is on the table...... but still..... I'm considering other options too.

              take the money and run...

I still think its crazy you got that much. But then again I got $2k for a 2k with a blown motor, and whining rear.

Yeah, budget shouldn't be too big of a deal, but I don't want to pour a pile of money into a 100k mile car. The GTO is a pretty good deal... Few miles away though....

Yeah, I did have a tough time driving away....... gave the car a hug when I left though.

So, now, the guy wants to buy my wheels and tires for an extra 1,000. He can't pay for them until next payday but the tires that I put on the car before selling were shot. He said I can hold the title to his truck until he pays me back. That's more money to my car fund...... What do you guys think? Sell them? A couple of the cars I've been looking at might need tires kinda soon too and I don't want to put myself in a bind after getting said car..... The wheels and tires won't have any problem mounting to the cars I'm looking at. The tires have under 5000 miles on them right now.

                          So my question is really:
Sell the wheels/tires and have an extra $1,000 toward the replacement car, and worry about tires when I get there? Or hold on to them in case I need them later even though I don't have anything they'll fit on right now?

Seems kinda obvious after typing it though. I've attached a couple mystery pics that don't really show much, but might give away what kind of car I'm considering.

                            C5?

Can you hold onto the wheels until he gets cash?

but I'd definitley sell the wheels to him, its hard to get $1k for a set of wheels

....could be a plain jane C5........ might not be either though......

I can hold on to them until he gets the cash, but he needs them for a Trip this weekend if he's going to take the car. He's a pretty honest and trusting guy. Heck, he gave dad the $5,000 in cash, in a bank envelope, without the title, without the keys, and without the car even being within 45 miles of him. I think I'd rather hold the title to the car though until I get the cash.... not some truck I've never seen, that he wont have to have if he gets new tires....

And yeah, definitely hard to get 1k for wheels, but the tires are 275/40/17s with under 5000 miles on them. Those cost me over 600 alone, so he might actually be gettin the deal this time.
