I have owned, ummm, 12 - 13 standards. Never replaced a clutch due to wear.

I taught my sister two years ago on her old Cavalier, and she has not yet had to change the clutch.

I say go for it. My firebird was a manual and it took me all of 30 minutes to learn how to driveBoth of my parents prefer manuals also and the only cars they had to replace the clutch on had at least 100,000 miles on them. Its a better feeling while your driving too, feels like you have more control over the car IMO.

I wish I had a manual. I've only driven a manual twice before. Its not too difficult. First time in a early 90 something saturn, and the second time in a 3000gt. Have one of your friends who knows how teach you. You'll have it down in no time.

Yep, a girl from my work is actually the person who taught me how to drive a manual. It just sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is.

F-bodies are actually a pretty easy car to drive stick, some cars are a complete PITA if your a beginner.

I would have gotten a stick when I bought my car if the T5 had a better rep. If ever I buy a z28 or ls1, it's t56 or nothing. Stick really isn't that hard to drive, just takes some getting used to. Easiest manual car ever to drive is a honda civic. Almost impossible to stall if you have any idea what your doing.

go for it, i learned on my cam and never did anything to the clutch, worst part is upward on a hill, start off using the ebrake till you get the hang of it... went to 5 speed and never looked back, my truck is auto and i hate it, being in controll of the gears is great trust me ull find a new apreciation plus it something else in driving that you now have to conquer, and if you go through your first clutch its not hard to replace it and you go from there,,, vote for get it

lol i believe all you guyz, dad says ur more likely to have an accident because youll be too focused on shifting and all and not the road. Oh yea, if i do get it ill have to drive it from the dealership like 30 min away, thats wat im most worried about cuz theirs a lot of traffic where the dealership is and no streets to go practice in.you guyz think i can drive it home from their wit no experience? lol

The dealership will probably take a little time with you when you pick the car up to teach you all should know to drive it home. And don't worry about not being able to concentrate on driving. I learned before i got my license and my mom threw me out on the road after ten minutes of practice, I never had a problem with it.
