so im looking into getting a newer engine for my camaro because mine has a ton of miles on it and i want to start building up the engine and i dont want to dump the money into an engine that wont last long.* anyways its a 98 3.8 and i was wondering if anyone had a guestimate at how much i could get another motor. if anyones done this, let me know how much you found one for. lower mileage, by the way.thanks

ls1 or lt1 swap? put a crate motor in and those are already built up....tons of options...depends on how much you wanna spend, and how far your willing to go, and what you want outta it.

              Re: new engine

i was thinkin just another 3.8

i think it would be cool to build up a v6 because theyre not generally considered that fast, unlike the v8s. also, i dont really want it to destroy me in gas mileage.

basically what im asking for is just another pretty much stock 3.8, just in better condition than mine. that i can build up, then drop into my car.

                Re: new engine

I have read in previous threads about this, that 3.8 v6s generally go for $500, you might end up spending $1200 on the whole swap if you do most the work yourself... the 4l60e generally goes for $350

This is guess work, i have never done the swap.

yea but I heard the 3.8's are hard to find now with low milage because they dont make them anymore...

If you're fimilar with the 3.8l I say go with that, it'll be a lot easier and you'll know what to do, what not to do, and a good amount of the how to's.
