Like I said, it's advertising. It may not financially or directly support the country, but it's supporting the car industry of that country. Hence why some people are opposed to buying imports; because they don't want to support a foreign market. Now, buying an import won't make a significant impact on that market or influence any country's economy, but it's still money going to a source outside of the domestic range. In choosing to buy a Mercedes or BMW over a Ford, a consumer has decided to put their money toward the German automotive market. Every time that car is driven around, that little emblem on the hood is displayed and is advertising for the German automotive market. Then if the message gets across to the right consumer, it can influence them to also purchase from that foreign market.

Or, to think of it this way; when asked what they think upon hearing the name Mercedes, most people would respond the following: luxury, comfort, expensive, German. Automotive industries have become a materialistic cultural symbol of their country of origin.

At least, that's one of my views based off of sociological marketing studies. :D

As to the OP, sorry to hear it didn't work out, but glad you may be keeping the Camaro. For updating to 3.73's, your best off checking local yards and ls1 take-offs for the whole rear end. If not there, check Ebay. If you just want to swap gears or differentials, there are some lists of necessary parts somewhere on here. :)

The 300 sounds like a good deal. Foreign or not, do what feels right. I've had domestic cars my entire life and one foreign now. They are all pretty similar overall. As for gears, you could go with Richmond 3.73's. Just make sure they are installed correctly. You may get gear "whine" and of course your gas mileage will be affected. Cruising rpm's will be much higher too, but it'll be worth it for the low end.

i know. Its more turned away from its original meaning and into a fight about domestic cars and supporting your country.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
