Cool vid Eric. Where were you at? I was on the island in the middle of the 402 bridge. Had an excellent view. Combined with a few 12 packs, we had a lot of fun waiting for it. Just sucked waiting 45 minutes to get moving with the traffic after the launch.

I don't know the exact spot, but seen the last 2-3 launches at it.
I take the road that goes past TICO air field, hit US1, then head north, then there is a hotel. I park in the grass somwhere then walk throught he hotel and they have a huge grassy area by the water.
In Person you can see the launchpad itself better, I would have had a better view with my 15x optical zoom camera but the battery died, so I quickly busted out the 3x one and didn't even zoom in to catch it.
But was amazing, hear the countdown then see the engines ignite, and the fireball just grow and takeoff lighting up the world.
I hadn't slept at all all weekend I was dieing, I wok up at 1:45, we got in the car hauled *** and made it there ~5 min before the launch. I love speeding out to launches(hit 100 more then once :) )
got stuck in traffic for like 30 min or so.Comment

thats pretty badass, im sure it looked even better if you were there
on a side note... im really happy that NASA is staying with the shuttle program even after the failure awhile back. after that happened i was almost positive they were going to ax the whole program and focus on unmanned launches for awhile... especially with the way our world is today, where everything has to be 100% safe all the time or it isnt acceptable in the public eye2000 Camaro 3800 A4Comment
