just disable it from automatic mode or whatever

my AIM, iTunes and internet use to all come on automatically when i started up my laptop, there should be a little box or icon that will have an option to not automatically open it

            Re: Computer problems

go to the control panel and figure out where it is to disable startup programs. I'm running Vista. With that OS, go to the control panel and there should be an option in "Programs." Disable the programs you don't want to come up at the startup. If you have XP, go to the help and support and search "disable startup programs." That should get you somewhere. Also, as an alternative, you can install 'Spybot: Search and Destroy." Through that program you can stop startup programs. I do have to add, though, that if you disable the program then use it later, that with some such as Itunes and AIM, they will automatically be readded to the 'boot up on start' list. Did that help?

Yeah. Or that. lol. Go to 'Start', click 'Run', and type in 'msconfig' minus the ' '. Go from there.

Just ribbing you a little. iTunes is probably the most stable Windows program Apple makes. Quicktime runs in the background, too. You may want to disable that on startup if you want to make sure you have the most clean boot possible.

If you really want to permanently keep them from starting up, you can edit them out of the startup in the registry. Just make sure you know what you are deleting.

Yeah ..... lol I dont mess with my registry anymore, I had a Uh Oh a couple months before becoming a member on here, where I got into cleanin it up and before I knew it ... my pc didnt run.

And as far as Apple/mac goes, I hear that their Computers are better to work with than a PC that uses windows ...... but thats all based on opinion

Computers are all just tools. It's all in what you get used to. OS X is a stable platform but you really have to know what you are doing (and a background in Linux doesn't hurt) if you are going to correctly diagnose and fix them. Or knowing someone who specializes in them doesn't hurt. With Windows, any 15 year old kid can usually fix them.
