  • should never have opened that CD...

So I won a bunch of CDs on ebay, close to 50 CDs for under $20 shipped. Some good stuff and then some not so great but worth having too, but its all known groups and it was a total steal. Some are quite used, some promo, and some new and sealed.

One of the sealed CDs was Dream Theater - Live Scenes from New York

I opened it up and was jamming. Then I was looking at the cover, with NYC skyline and the world trade center twin towers on fire, then started remembering hearing something about that before.

A trip to wikipedia.org refreshed my memory
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_Scenes_From_New_York

The album was released on Sept 11 2001. (What a day to pick to release an album with the twin towers on fire!)

It was recalled pretty quick and rereleased with a new cover.

An original album thats still sealed sells for over $100 on ebay:

    I can't believe I just unwrapped mine......

thats what I was thinking. Go buy a new cd and slowly take off the cover, then put it over that one and glue it back :)

Just keep it, it will only grow in value.

I agree. Generally, the older something is, the more rare it is. So, if you wait even longer, it'll just become more rare and worth more.

but yeah reseal it and play it off like its new

You can by heat shrink wrap almost anywhere....... Look carefully at how a brank new one is sealed and copy it. That way you don't have to try and undo it without tearing it.
