  • I need a new floor jack!

I'm looking for a good light weight 2 stage floor jack. Sears has one but I hear that it has problems with the seals blowing out. What do you guys use? Pics?

for the love of god and all that is holy.... do not get a craftsman jack.

do a search on ls1tech.com in the tools/fabrication section. Or one in the lounge for www.camaroz28.com

both have huge threads about current crapsman jacks and there suckage...

I hate mine. 8 months, some moderate use... It still works, but maybe the last 1/5 pump actually gets it to lift. And there are no replacement parts availible(sucks cuz the frame is good, but hydraulics suck. People have said they have had the pump rebuilt and have it work out.

I recently got a 1.5 ton harbour freight all aluminum. I haven't gotten too nuts on it but jacked the mustang up. With the subframes, when I jack it up, both sides lift in the air. Works great and is lighter then the craftsman.

I reccomend it. but research the threads for yourself.

I can agree with you Eric, Craftsman jacks are sh*t. Everything else made by Craftsman actually lasts to a decent extent, but the jacks bust seals left and right in them.

I might have to get one of these Harbor Freight alum. jacks myself.

This is the one I got... Its a "full size" jack, but still all aluminum, its lighter then my craftsman. I liked the craftsman a little better when it worked, but crapsman ones are known to fail real quick.

I haven't put it under any heavy loads other then lifting the mustang, half at a time, NASCAR style a few times but, we will see. Doing another rear swap on the camaro sometime soon.

I was really disapointed with craftsman, I am pretty sure with the exception of hand tools I won't buy **** from craftsman.

I've got a "Big Red" Jack from Pep Boys. It's the "Aluminum Race" model. It fits under my lowered car and has worked great for over a year.

And avoid one that says DURALAST on the side of it. They suck! You can't adjust the release pressure and the one I bought is either up or crashing down without the proper release. Scares the hell outta me to use it.

Odd, i've been using a duralast 2-ton jack since december, and I've never slammed my car down.

Weird. Maybe I have a bad one. You have the blue one with the red cap that says "DO NOT REMOVE" over the hydralic adjustment? I even adjusted the jack and it still slams down when I release it. I don't even look at the car without jackstands but it's always uncomfortable using that jack.

yea, and I didn't remove it, and my jack works like a charm every time
