  • Sunset Orange Camaro's?

Im really close to getting a 98 z28 metallic sunset orange, 87,000 miles, chrome rims, tan leather. for $10,900. Seems to be in good shape, but i was wondering, i havent seen many of these colors, are they rare? think i should jump on it

I haven't seen too many of them that color. I dont know if it's rare or not. If it's not considered rare then I wouldn't pay that much for it if I were you. I've seen LS1's with those miles go for a couple grand less on LS1tech.

Anyway SOM wasn't an option in 98.

Pretty sure hugger orange was only available in 69 and 99. And for SOM I think that was only for 2000-2002.

Bright Green metalic was indeed offered in 1999. You likely have not seen it too often since it was discontinued October 1998, Hence why only 217 were produced.

We try to ensure all data is correct before we put it on the site. Which means a LOT of cross referencing! We cross reference between All Brochures, Library of books, 100's of magazines, and over 60lbs of Camaro Restoration Packages (all 32 [67-99]), online resources, as well as Scott Settlemire.

If anyone does infact see an error, PLEASE let us know. Thanks very much :)

I'm going to have to look futher into this. I got the production numbers for my 97 BGM Firebird, but never bothered looking at the Camaro numbers. My understanding was it was only three years and all three years it was a relatively rare color, but my information could be wrong.

That one Hugger Orange was probably one of the last cars in the 99 run. It was discontinued in 2000.

I didn't find any BGM in 96, the only greens were...Bright Teal Met; Polo Green Met; and Mystic Teal Met. From both the camarosource site and my books at home.

SOM was NOT offered as a factory color in 98 for sure. didnt find it in the color books for 99 either. i just had some mixed up (per factory codes) this past saturday and they had to go to the 00 books to get the code.
in other words not a factory paintjob. be wary of wreckage...
