That's what is so odd though. You throw it in drive then floor it. Ok, RPM's hit 4K and stay there as the car increases speed. Right, thats what CVT's do. Now throw those paddle shifts in, and now you're running through gears, yet they behave differently then your average sport shifts... Yea, just go see for yourself, lol. Just don't get your hopes up thats all im saying :).

How much delay is there in the shifts? That's the thing I don't like about most of them. I drove a mazda and it seemed like forever between shifts, I drove a friends 350z and the shifts were firm and quick through 4th or 5th all the way to 120. That was a fun ride.

I am trying to think back now... My memory is getting shot in my old age. :p. I think it was pretty precise. It shifted quick, but like I said, it was really odd because the car did sort of semi act in CVT mode... Think of it this way, you want the RPM's to hit 5 K rpms then shift, but the car might not actually hit 5k rpms. Alright don't take this as gospel because I really am having a hard time remembering the characteristics of the CVT. It was odd. I just know I was so dissapointed with how much of a piece of junk it was that I just wanted to get the car back to the dealer.

I recently had an automatic 2.5 GT Legacy with the sport shift buttons as a loaner, and those shifts were instant.

So it sounds like it has a safe mode where if you rev it to high it starts getting anxious, like don't hurt me. That's crap. My mom's acura has it too and the only safe mode it has is that it won't let you shift into 1st above like 10 mph. That 350z made me about wet myself because I was expecting a delay and it was just an instant hit, very nicely done, the way it should be.

Paddle shifters on a CVT doesn't really make sense. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of a CVT?

Exactly the reason why I am having a hard time explaining how it acted in the car. We'll let Fireball pay close attention and give us the update... :p If you're lucky, you may even be able to hear yourself think over the noise so you can process it all clearly in your head...

Well remember i drive a convertible on a daily basis, so my idea of a quiet interior is most likely going to be completely differnt from your own ;)

Haha, we'll see. You're going tonight right? Also, I drove the GTS with the low profiles that im sure played a big part in the road noise and ride quality.

I'm gonna def. test drive the GTS cuz thats the only one with the CVT, plus its the only one i'd really concider.. the rest look too ordinary.
