I was just in hawaii with my family. When we started her up it would sometimes rev up to like 3500rpms and sit there for a while before going down to the 700 or whatever she idled at..anyone know what the purpose of that is? i wouldn't think it was something wrong, since it was an '06, and only did it sometimes.

wow. a big chunk of that got lost somehow. I know i typed it out... sorry guys. I rented a '06 Dodge Magnum. I was just wondering what the purpose of the inconsistant idle at around 3500rpms was. wow..i feel stupid...don't know what happened there

maybe the engines getting choked. were you pressing the gas a little bit when you were cranking on accident? either that or the computer was choking it.

pretty sure there is no choke with fuel injection... maybe its just to get the oil up to the valves or something, idk

no you can choke. its all electronic. one day i was bored and was reading thru my owners manual and iirc it did say something about that. on any cold engine it takes a little more juice to get it started. FI engines arent any special exception. its just the car does it for you so you dont think about it.
