ENGLISH. i saw earlier today on the news that the senate made it official.

Sorry - not true.

Just because the Senate passed 2 resolutions does not make them law.

I'm all for it. I notice that a lot of the liberal Democrats here in Calif. are upset about it, particularly the mayor of LA. Gee, I wonder why?

But I do agree that we should learn more than one language. And it should be taught at Grade School and not start with it in High School or College. In Europe they can speak 4-5 different language and still maintain their official language.

My grandfather who's originally from Spain, before he died he spoke English, Spanish, Filipino, French, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portugese and Latin. He learned all that when he was a little boy going to a Catholic School. He ended up working the US Embassy. Good deal.

It would be nice if they made the official language english, then all those lazy mexicans would have to get off their butts and learn it... nah i'm just kidding :p (im gunna get shot for that aren't i? :wavey: ).
But on a serious note it would bring more unity to the country, so i'm all for it.

well.. it would be better if we had to learn in it grade school... cause its easier to learn stuff when ur younger.. if you learn it in highschool you forget it by the next year... if you learn it in kindergarden when ur brain is young it will stay with you

well with as many mexicans as we have it would be easy enough to keep using.. im in my last year of spanish in highschool right now and i just randomly speak it at work and other places.. my boss asked me tonite what somethin was cause i said steak in spanish..

The reason it is easier to learn a different langauge at a younger age is because your brain doesn't automatically think in English. Its hard to explain. Once your in high school, say you take a spanish class. You learn the word "comer" which means to eat. Well, since you're in high school and your brain is programmed in English now, when you hear the word comer, you associate it with the english word eat. If you were to learn that word at a younger age, you would hear the word comer and just associate it with eating, not the english word. :tup:
