i herd about that glad you found this article though now i know to true french meaning of camaro. also the corvette is french for a small naval ship and the corvette sybol has a french emblem on similar to the nfl's saints's helmets which was worn by french military to asa sign of power and good luck just in case you wanted to know. :DJpX -
I'm french, and the word 'camaro' doesn't exist.
I've looked round and round (Looked into a 1910 dictonnary too)
It's maybe a short short from the world 'Camarade' which means 'friend'.

The corvette was actually named after the war ship because it was such a quick and nimble ship.
