are the more expensive CD-R/DVD-R's better than the cheap ones? it seems like my newer sony cd-r's have been skipping more than my other burned cds.

It really shouldnt make a difference. Your burner could simply be crapping out.

Quality control is better for name brand. I've noticed with cheap media, the longivity just isn't there. After about 2 years most of the generic cds aren't even usable anymore. Either the glue has discolored, or the foil sticker itself has came off.

With the name brand stuff, I've had very few problems other then normal scratches. I generally use memorex.

I have heard of problems with no name brands. I always stick with the good stuff.

I have never had a problem with a memorex CDR, unlike other brands.

I heard that the cheap brands have lower density. which isnt bad since most cd rom drives can play it. but older cd players may struggle to play it. I know thats the case with the first few version of PS2s with music cds and games.
