• Think GM is doing bad?

Think again, most of the stuff you hear is blown out by the media. A guy that works for GM posted a long rant on chirpthird.com and I found out quite a few things. http://www.chirpthird.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2391

Firing 1/6 of all their workers in the next 3 years, down from 177,000 in 2000 to 125,000 soon? $1.1 billion loss in the first quarter? Yeah, I think they're doing ok.

I'm saying thier product is doing good. The reason for all the loss is thier employee benfits which i believe they are changing.

I don't think GM is doing bad, I think they are doing Loosey.

I just heard in the news that we are taking in more imports and than we are exporting our cars.

Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, Central and S. America are buying Toyota cars. Small Toyota cars. While our cars are getting phat, there's are slim. GM has got to think about fuel efficiency and reliability.

Plus they need to trim the benefits that they give to employees. I have to admit that Union are killing both GM and Ford financial and in stocks. 1 out of 8 employees has a tendency of going on disability.

I agre its not all bad that GM is gettign rid of the problems from what I understand one of there biggest problems is employee benefits...

get rid of the employees with benefits, then get new employees with less benefits, fixes that problem with the benefits.

Interesting post.

I did not know GM had the same amount of complaints as BMW. All my friends are BMW nuts, they think BMW is the 1337. Sucks for them.

Ok, they're still doing horribly though.

So their existing customers complain less. who cares.
So they have 3 great factories, big deal.
The fact that they pay more taxes for the US doesn't change the fact that they're in horrible standing.

The fact that they're losing their ***, having forced layoffs, and are going for the overseas market more than the US market soon makes them a horrible company.

Thats illegal. I see this at UPS, and there are quite a few co-workers that due abuse the union terms in the contract and gouge management for blood.

However, the corporate fat cats aren't going to cut their profits either. The UAW will push for more, and management won't cut their bonuses either...so who gets screwed? The consumer and ultimately the company as a whole.

Yes, the union is a "good-evil" but its like everything else, GREED ruins it. Managment creates unions.

UPS obviously had abusive management and there are some scoundrels in there and I'm very glad I'm a Teamster. However, our main competition, Federal Express is not unionized and they have voted down the IBT numerous times. Why? Because they have GOOD management and they get good benefits to begin with.

The teamsters are slowy beginning to get into DHL and I hope we do unionize DHL, because if we don't its gonna get a whole lot tougher. The DHL driver that picks up his missorts from our hub complains about how ****ty managment treats the DHL people, and he is very eager to vote in the Teamsters.

So before you take the easy way out and blame the UAW and workers, remember to also give half that blame to management who created those unions to begin with. Henry Ford was a VERY ruthless dictator towards his employees at Dearborn way back in the day, I'm sure GM was the same.

Why did you have to post this 99v6cam? Sympathy is half the reason I buy GM.
