Well, let me fill you in on the developments. You'll probably all think I'm crazy, but the evidence keeps mounting.
It took about a week for the swelling and rash on my hand to subside, and I sort of let it slip my mind. It was pretty foolish, after all, and obviously I was mostly joking about it, although there is still that glimmer of doubt. I'm a rational man, you see -- very science-minded. I'm a "I'll believe it when I see it" type of person. I need proof. I need evidence.
Well, last night it happened again, but instead of leaving me with red swollen flesh, I was left with a strange and painful indented crescent on my ankle, which as of a day later has not yet subsided completely.
I awoke suddenly at 1:04 AM. I remember the time exactly because my head was turned towards my alarm clock when my eyes opened, the red numbers burning into my eyes in the dark room. I remember feeling a sudden moment of confusion, as my body was covered in sweat (it was under 50 degrees all night, so it was not weather related). Then, to my horror, I realized I couldn't move. I was paralyzed.
Well, as I said, I'm a very science-minded person. I've heard of sleep paralysis (read up for those interested), so I deduced that must be what I was experiencing. My momentary fear became more of a curiosity, and I laid there in that condition for a few moments.
I slowly regained control of my muscles, and started to slide out of bed, when I heard a very loud metallic sound ring out from my living room area. I live alone in a small apartment (I'm sure you're all shocked after reading this ;) ), and my living room is literally a few feet from the door to my bedroom, which was ajar.
The sound resembled what I'd imagine a gong, but instead of the reverberation tapering off as the noise issued from a gong would, this noise grew in frequency over a brief period of several seconds, developed a bizarre and admittedly frightening electronic buzz, then stopped immediately and left the apartment in dead silence.
Alright. By now you're saying "Infernal is a f'ing lunatic. Lock the hotel room doors at the next AIS. And bring a gun." And that's fine, but let me continue anyway.
I sat on the edge of my bed, completely tensed up, trying to wade through that huge burst of fight-or-flight adrenaline, and eventually worked up the courage to stand. When my body weight hit my right foot, I felt a sharp pain from my ankle and literally fell backwards into the bed again. But, I was more worried about what the noise was at this point, and as you can imagine the entire situation was very surreal. At one point I remember wondering if I was dreaming -- but I wasn't.
So, I limped out of the bedroom and reached around the corner, flipping on the living room light. Call me a sissy, but after the events I had experienced over the previous several minutes I was definitely not in a macho mood, and you wouldn't catch me dead plummeting into that dark living room.
When I came around the corner, I was almost shocked that nothing unusual appeared to be going on.
I sat down on the couch, pulled off my right sock to look at my ankle, and I discovered a strange painful horseshoe shaped indentation, as I briefly described at the beginning of this story.

Now I know what you're thinking. I dreamed the whole thing, or I was drunk (wasn't), and I must have hit my foot on something thrashing around. I'd like to believe that too, only I have a king sized bed, and there was nothing anywhere near it except for sheets, pillows, and blankets. Plus, there is no bruise, even now. Just the strange indentation, the type normally caused by extreme pressure, not a sudden impact.
