• Back from American Street Shootout....

Got back around 1-2 today.... jumped in bed.... more pain killers... passed out.

Ok.... first.... THANKS to all!

I ALWAYS have so much fun at these!

This year... I was driven down... due to leg in brace... me on crutches... torn ligament... etc.

This was the toughest year.... I constantly dissappeared to my room to pass out due to pain and take more pain killers :( Surgery this friday.

To all my old friends..... it is ALWAYS awesome to see you!!!! I already miss ya guys n gals.

To the new friends.... hope to see you next year.

Lets see... from here:
Me
Pathogen
Infernal
Infernal's aliens
Shelley
James aka firefighter
Andrew Brandon
KA50
Mr juice
Paul (ls1 guy)
jess

Others:
GTP guy
yellow mustang guy
handful of truck people
etc.

Typical wrenching in the parking lot Thurs/ Fri

Congrats to Infernal, jenn, and mrjuice for hitting new bests!!!!

I sat in the stands alllllll day long and offered track tips here and there.

I sat there w/ james (firefighter) shelley, and a couple other people and we had a lot of fun.

I took lots of pic's. I'll load them slowly.

Funny things from the hotel:
1) We had our own crack addict
He constantly asked for rides "2 miles down the road"

2) I got's me an 800 HP diesel dodge truck!
This.... gentlemen... kept on talking to me... I asked mph... he didn't know... I asked 60 ft... he didn't know... I asked what mods.... he said.. really big turbo... he eventually said he just drives it, his friend modifies the truck.

3) (Supra guy) Black supra single turbo automatic, this guy was lame!
Him- What's the fastest car of the day
Me - 12.27
Him - I can take any car here then
Me - What times do you run
Him - I don't know
Me - Riiiight
Him - well, with TT set up I trapped 116 mph
me - so, you have no times now?
him - no

4) Bronco driver who claimed "it's an 11 second bronco!" He checked out our cars and kept on pointing to jenn's distributor..... in her engine bay.... last time I checked... we have NO distributor... he later claimed 14's.. he was an @ss

Annoying this that SET ME OFF!
NO f*cking burn outs in hotel parking lot! It has been said before... it will be said again... the hotel is VERY accomidating to us, allowing us to wrench on our cars all day/ night, allows us to party all day/ night outside our rooms etc. NO f*cking burn outs. For some reason, I think when a guy on crutches comes out and yells at you, you think I'm f*cking joking?!?!?! NONE of our members did this, thanks to all!

Saturday night:
Burn outs, drunk people, under age drunks, small bon fire in parking lot... and goes on from there... these people were NOT part of our board.... some did partake in the heat from the bonfire which is ok. They were part of the event. I have a long fuse... they used it up quickly, and was ready to go home, along with my 4 friends

Track prep was AWESOME!!!! Many wheel standing cars! I wouls have been soooo happy to be racing!!

Weather was a bit overcast on Thurs.
Friday. 50-60's
Saturday. Sunny, 60's+ HOT! I got burned!

I have pic's of jenn's new twin intercooler set up.. VERY nice. I soooooo wanted to make a pass in her car! I'll let her post her exact times... but... I'm VERY happy with her progress... she is a comfy mid 13 sec car with an icky 2.0 60 ft! Killer mph too!

Next year goal:
I attend
My firebird attends
Both me and the bird are in full working order!

Fastest car of the day.... 12.27?!?!?!?!?! Ewwwww, I coulda OWNED him!

Sigh.... I'll update this thread continuously

I showed up late on Thursday night, before most of our members and others got to the hotel, tossed back one or two beers, and decided to call it a night. I was beat from the 5 hour drive, and I just wanted to eat something and get 8 hours of sleep. Before I went to bed, tho, I got to hear about our resident motel crack addict. I moved my car closer to my room before I went to sleep.

I spent most of Friday, with the incredibly helpful… help of Pathogen, who did most of the hard work while I stood there screaming and cursing at my car and trying to break 87,000 mile plugs free with a 12” ratchet. We ended up having to tear off all the coil packs and relocate part of the air pump system (where it connects to the exhaust manifold). I hate emissions systems.

While we were trying to get the plug and wire swap done, at least three separate people told me that after watching us work on the car they would never consider buying an LS1. :D We eventually got all 8 in the block, and after a few tweaks she was running better than I’ve ever known her to. Some of these plugs were absolutely NASTY! Some of them had gaps almost twice as high as factory spec.

We spent the next 15 minutes or so installing a SLP CAI that I butchered from my friends Z28 last weekend before he traded it in for his new car.

Friday night began with a small party in the motel parking lot. We had a canape tent and a chrome wheel full of charcoal and starter logs. Good enough for warmth and drunken gorging on smores.

There were a lot of board members there (see James’ list), and some new faces as well.

Race day: between the plugs, wires, CAI, cool weather, and good track prep, I pulled a new best ET of 13.34 @ 105ish with a 2.00 60’ on crappy street tires. (don’t have the slip in front of me). My old best was 13.55 and last year I was unable to tick off anything faster than 13.64. I was happy with the times, not too shabby for a basically stock 1998 automatic car with 2.73s and 87,000 miles on the odometer.

We had a pretty fun day of racing, all in all. The track was practically deserted, and we had our own lane so we didn’t end up having to race top fuel dragsters. ;) I have to give props to that track, this is the fourth time I’ve run there and the track prep has always been amazingly good for such a small operation.

After the track we had a sort of mini-awards-ceremony which was organized by a high powered spreadsheet application, apparently designed to ensure that the maximum number of people possible won in one category or another. We took some photos of the cars in the motel parking lot, then came a strange Saturday night.

I hit the liquor store as usual, and then kicked back with a drink, but I realized pretty much right away that there was some strange tension. People were breaking up into their own little groups, or were just absent all together, and a few people looked uncharacteristically pissed off. I hung out in the lot for a while trying to help to re-establish the atmosphere we had going the night before, but it was a no go, and I really didn’t understand what was going on, so I decided to kick back in my room with a few board members and try to polish off a bottle of AfterShock(tm) I had picked up earlier, which ended up being pretty fun after all. Was it worth it? Well, it’s now almost 24 hours later, and I can still taste aftershock – you be the judge!

On the way home I kept drifting off behind the wheel, and after trying music, cold air from the AC, and slapping myself repeatedly in the face (yes I did!) I decided that I needed to pull off and take a power nap at the nearest rest stop. Unfortunately, a few miles before that happened I did nod out and ended up nearly running myself off the road at 80 MPH on I-287. I’m OK and the car didn’t take any damage (was able to pull out of it), but it was stupid and pointless, and blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…

Overall, I had a kick *** time, as always. I always enjoy hanging out with you guys, with or without the racing. :D So, to all the old faces, it was great to see you all, and to some new friends, I hope to see you guys next time! I’m having a hard time adjusting back to the real world. Work tomorrow is gonna’ be a *****.

LOL, tough luck James. Maybe it was your chance at 11's with that track prep?

*insert evil laugh here*

Can't these jerks put it in the middle of the country so more people can attend? It's not often big events are held where I can go to them...

this weekend was a blast. I'm still PO'd that i had to work saturday and missed racing. I actually had some competition. LOL

Few points I'd like to make..

Jenn's car- For the 2 years that Jenn and I have become best friends I have been begging her to have a good friend of mine give her a hand with this car. Though Jenn did most of the work, he provided a little technical knowledge and tools. Her car is running great and i'm SOOOO proud of her. By the end of this year we're thinking 12's she's deep in the 13's with no tune.. hehehe

The first official A.S.S. orgy- It was great!! I've never had better!!!!!

All the newbies- It was great to meet you all!! i had a blast, yes most of us need to remember the rules (no burn outs) and those who were drinking we need to control that a little more.

to all the guys from last year- thanks for making this year just as fun, i really feel like an inbred family when we're together i love you all.

And to everyone else i had a GREAT piece of A.S.S. this year. and i got the trophy for NA 3.8 ET and 15 second class!!!
