  • Big Brother is watching...

I've never seen anything like this before. If you type in your address, you will see detailed satellite photos of your house from a satellite in outer space. I could even see the pools in the
backyards and the neighbors car in the driveway -etc. Since the photos are from April 10th, 2002 - you have to know what your
    property looked like then.

    1) Select the link "Advanced Find"

    2) Select the link "Address"

    3) Key in your address and select "GO".

    4) In the "Available Image" column select "Urban Areas"

That used to be free on Mapquest, then they started charging people money for it... that's cool that Microsoft now offers it for free.

we use it all the time at the job. it's really handy, and a hell of a lot better than paying some aerial photographer $400 to fly it.

Terraserver has been around for a long time (since the mid to late 90's). Back then, they had made a server that was capable of holding a terrabyte of information; it was the size of a washing machine. They couldn't find anything that would take up all of it's available resources. They were going to put every single wall street stock exchange transaction on there, but it only took about 500GB. So they decided to do satellite imagery.
