  • race: human vs. car

    I was having this wierd discussion a while back about who would win in a race off the line to the 10' mark - a car or a human.

    Since humans can only get up to about 27-28 MPH, we were mostly arguing about who can accelerate faster from a standstill. What's your take?

    Don't forget the RT, the time it takes to engage the clutch, and the time it takes for the crankshaft/DS/gears/axle to turn.

      it all depends on the car... the real question is:

      Can you fire a rifle bullet in space?

        I think if you take the best of both worlds, an olymic athelete vs. a fueler, the car will win easily.

        for Skapimp - Yes if the bullet is made on earth, there will be suffiecient oxygen in the shell :D

            It depends, is it the fastest person in the world vs. a 1987 Honda Civic. If so, then I might take the person. But...wow, thats a hard question if you think about it.

              When you think about it, the record for the 100m dash is like 9.999 seconds or something right?
              100m = 325 ft = average 32.5 ft/sec.
              I bet A human can accelerate a lot faster than an 87 Honda civic for the first 10', maybe even more..

                  I'd have to say the 3.8 th gen..
                  I am just guessing an average 60' time of 2.2x for a 3.8, so 10 feet is probably a second or less... that is pretty damn hard for a human to do, especially a high school track athlete. If he could beat a 3.8 to 10' that would be a pretty nice accomplishment.

                      Try it. I'd put 10 bucks on the car though.

                        I'd say a good runner can take a 3.8 up to the 10 foot line
                        A good runner can reach top speed almost immediatley
                        I was in track a few years...and I'm fairly confident I could beat a stock 3.8 to the 10 ft line assuming a good initial push...especially if you had a block or something to jump out from.
                        I think you can do it matt
                        You should come over and we can have someone flag us down ;)
