  • @#$% insurance!

I pay $2200 a year for insurance on my 1993 camaro V6, I'm 18 have had no tickets and have discounts for good student driver. When the new 05 Mustang GT's come out i'm planing on getting one, the price of the car is not a problem the insurance costs are. People have told me my insurance could double, please tell me thats not true :(

prob 30-50% more thats a standard jump for a v6 to a v8 for a kid around here, dont feel too bad i paid $5400 a year for my camaro when i was your age. Now its only $500 a year for my "family" car

who's charging you 2200 a year with no tickets or accidents?

if they are willing to do that (since you live in california) i would guess that it might double... i really doubt it but i guarantee it won't go down.

... might be time for a more economical car. Until later, of course.

I think it will go UP prob somewhere like 30-50% cuz it's a newer model that what you have right now.

Hell, I pay about $2400 a year for my 'bird, and I'm 21 with a clean record. Insurance is a big scam, I tell ya. You pay all this money in premiums, and when it does come time to file a claim, they charge you even more.

but with a new car, comes a new car discount. i just lost my new car discount (cavy is 3 years old) and my rate just went up $12 a month,
the best thing to do is check around for different companies, then when you find a good reputable company, then try and get as many discounts as possible such as:
                          ABS brakes
                          duel aibags
                          aftermarket alarm
                          etched window that says SAFEGUARD
say you drive 0-3 miles to work/school
                          good driver discount
if you have a child, tell them, there is a disount there

most of these discounts you have to ask for, some might only save you $1, but some of them are considerable discounts, i have all of the above disounts listed above minus the child one, i lost that disount when i got married. another option would go out and buy a beater car, doesnt even need to run, and have that as your primary driver, then the new car secondary, that would save a ton on your premium
