Im tring to just get my x-box and computer to work together on my cable connection.

Im using a netgear ds104, I used to use this on DSL with 2 comps and a box.

I can only get 1 to work at a time. Both lights are one but only one will give information out at a time. I resest the modum and the one i use first gets all the bandwidth and then the other gets noithing.

This is a hub not really a true router, so do i need a router now? Cause I have resest and tried combinationis. No drivers are needed. I think my x-box is uploading cause the yellow light is blinking but the green light just stays solid.
HELP!

Cable companies require you to call them and let them know that you want to add an additional device to your current connection. I believe some cable companies go by the devices MAC Address. Some other cable companies assign you a static IP Address.

If the cable company is issuing you one static IP for every device, then a HUB will not work. You will need a router and properly configure it.

Look, to make things sound less foreign, call you're cable company and let them know that you wish to connect you're xbox to the net. They should be able to tell you exactly what needs to be done.

I'd say just get a router and don't let the cable company know anything about it!

Pay $10+tax more on your next bill, at least for Time Warner and Charter.

Just go buy a real router. The D-Link DI-624 is "XBox Live Ready"

some cable companies and DSL companies do not charge extra for home networking although they do not support it. However. With some dsl and cable companies you have to call them and give them the mac addresses on the router and cards that you are useing. its a little pain in the *** security feature that they use.

Depending on which router you get, you should be able to have it spoof the MAC address of the modem, so they would never know. ;)

Why not? Just turn the wireless off. If you get a laptop or something else, you don't have to worry about upgrading. BTW, this is an excellent router.
