drag racers cut holes in their (metal) bumpers to reduce weight

My understanding is it lets air flow out smoothly from under the car instead of hitting the bumper and creating turbulance. Of course I can't think of any legit race cars that have them and my information could be completely wrong.

That's new to me. Never seen that before. But it has to rank up there some of the dumbest useless mods ever done.

Yeah he needs that to prevent people from drafting when he takes that civic to 200mph at the local racetrack.
Let's not forget the weight savings, he's gonna be shaving half a second off his 1/4 mile for sure. Sad thing is that he acctually paid money for it that could be spent on real mods and that he really thinks it acctually does something.

"those are originally to lighten the bumper and the metal thing keeps the rigidity also for less of an air block..but real racers will just put a plate on the bottom of their car"

          *******: its for aerodynamics
*******: the bumper kinda cups the air
*******: the holes let it flow through
          *******: but
*******: thats for speeds of like 160+

so it's not for ****.. those are what some people I asked said about it

There's a fine line between weight redux and just plain stupid. If you are making a car light for the track... take the damn thing off. But driving on the streets with a weak bumper because you put holes in it is just asking a cop to pull you over. Get rearended and see if your insurance covers it, ricer boy.

Maybe thats it! He is ashamed of his car so he cuts holes in it so when he has a wreck it will total out for sure. j/k.. he problem thinks those holes or whatever are the hottest thing on the street
