I've royally fvcked up qmail on my server. I can't send/recieve any email.

I was trying to change the SMTP port so i could access my SMTP server (my isp blocked port 25)

    All I did was

    vi /etc/services

    and changed
    smtp 25/tcp mail
    smtp 25/udp mail

    to

    smtp 587/tcp mail
    smtp 587/udp mail

Now everythings all screwed. I changed it back to 25, and it still doesnt work.

Before, I was atleast able to send/recieve mail through Horde, and recieve mail through my email client, but now nothing works.

    Help

Did you try rebooting or restarting the server?

Did you open up port 587 in the firewall?

These are just guesses as I've never ran a mail server on any of my boxes. What distro?

Its Linux not Windows. You don't have to reboot the server. Just restart the appropriate process.

If he hadn't know how to restart the server manually, then restarting the system would have done it for him. BTW, when I said server I was refering to the SMTP server process, not the machine.

Hmm, sometimes daemons have helper deamons that might need to be restarted too.

Well, I figured out what the problem is, just not how to fix it.

The server isn't listening on port 25 anymore for SMTP. Even after rebooting, how do I go about making it listen again.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
