• Honda cbr 954RR or Honda RC-51

I was in florida all week, and got to ride my bike since it's being stored down there.. I took it to a dealership to look at other bikes and the salesman was seriously interested in my bike... and told me that he would buy my 02 954RR as it is straight up for an 05 Honda RC-51

What do u think?
I took the bike for a ride, and it's definatley fast and somewhat rare i guess, but the salesman said it's really hard to find 954's there..

Im thinking about it but ive got alot of things on the bike that i would be trading for a brand new stock bike.

Hmm, never heard of a CBR954

If you liked the RC-51, then I would go for it. A brand new bike, and a little bit more displacement.

Well, I can see why its tempting. They are basically offering you 12 g's for your 4 year old 954, which is ridiculous, but good for you.

It is tough man. I rode a TL1000R and hated it, felt like a 1 ton boat, but who's to say the Honda isn't much better then the Suzuki? You got to admit, the V-Twin's sound cool.

Trade straight up then sell it without putting a mile on it. Then go buy another 02 954 and pocket a nice chunk of change. :D

Edit - Is the RC51 new?

Yeah, brand new RC-51.. unsold 2005 and they had the 2006's on the floor.

They are both badass bikes.
but in a way i think the 954 is a headturner.

Good idea, bcuz my bike isnt worth 12g's which is totally rediculous.

On a side note, I think the RC51 is an ugly *** bike. Your CBR is a much nicer looking bike. If I were in your shoes, id never trade my bike in for a twin. But, in this case, like I said earlier, I'd seriously be contemplating it just to pocket a decent load of change.

You know what else you could do, make the trade, then head back home and trade the RC51 in on a 1000RR/R1/GSXR1000/ZX-10. :D

The 954 is a power machine with pretty good handling. The 4 cylinder gives a big hit as the rpms reach a certain level. The RC-51 is a handling machine with pretty good power. The power band is somewhat broader, doesn't have the big hit.

When I bought a sportbike I wanted the handling of a V-twin. I got a Superhawk, the RC-51s tamer brother (low elevens instead of high tens, more relaxed riding position, gets no respect). Love it.

My dad doesnt know this bike exists, i was in a wreck a while back and he wouldnt allow me to have the bike, so i have stored the bike everywhere i can to keep him from finding out about it, and i am moving to florida so now it will be easy.. it's complicated but heres a link to a 954rr and a rc-51

So does this mean that my suggestion is no good? Trading the RC51 in for a different bike because you don't want your father to know?

noo i would think that would be a good idea cuz id get alot more for it then its worth i suppose.

i just dont know if i wanna do that.
I think the rc looks good but v6 bob nailed it.
im probably not ready to lose the 954 yet even though chances are this will never happen again.

Well, if it compares at all to Suzuki's twin, the TL1000R, then my 600 out runs it. In your case, it will be a huge loss of power.

All I see is $$ man
