I hate this place! You get overcharged for everything and besides the big houses there's nothing else going on here. CT. hates sports or sporty cars, everytime I look I see an f-body or some tricked out civic either pulled over or being towed. Now I guess starting at the beginning of this year they are taking this modified exhaust thing seriously. This is the time of year I look forward to hearing loud exhaust, but after a brief promising season, everything seems to be stock quiet. Even the harley's aren't sounding that mean! I'm being told my vuckin 6 cylinder with a sound cancelling flowmaster hushpower is too loud. I even ask the dmv if I could just do something to make it really quiet and they replied by saying "I don't care if you can mute it, I want a stock muffler on it!" It's a relief when I take the ferry across long island sound every weekend and go to new york where they seem to overlook such small matters.[/venting]

so even if the aftermarket muffler might be quieter they would still prefer the stock muffler?

i dont actually think they can make this demand. the only thing they can do is demand that you fall below a certain threshold at a particular distance. demanding you only use 'stock' parts would create a monopoly for the dealer.

I was supposed to have my registration revoked two weeks ago for not getting an approved muffler yet, but I just give up. It's would cost too much unnessessary money to go back to stock from the slp setup. I'll wait until they threaten me before I consider making another effort.

Thats stupid. As long as you are reving it hard it isnt an issue here. Some people don't run catalytic converters or use cutouts and it's really not a problem.
