• I'm a Newb here

Just wanted to introduce myself. I live in AZ and just bought a 98 3.8 5spd Firebird...I have had several other FBodies, this being my 1st 6r and my slowest...But I do like the car and have some plans for it. As for the plans I can't reveal right now, its going to be a secret ...All I will clue you in on is that is still going to be a 6cyl. Its not going to be a 3.8, it will have a 6spd and I am honestly expecting 450-500hp at the wheels.

I'm normally not secretive about stuff like this, but I just want it to be a surprise because to my knowledge nothing like this has been done, and frankly I don't want somebody who is more financially able to get the idea from me and beat me to it :D ...

The car is staying stock for now except for tint and an alarm. I will be picking up the block in the next month and will start to acquire everything.

Ok ok, I'll give you this much also...It will be a totally forged V6 with about 8:1 compression and eventually close to 20lbs of boost...This is all you get until I can reveal the finished product I know there are other boosted V6s but this is different.

That is all.

Thanks for the welcome...What is the fastest 6r around? A year ago I would've never thought of building a 6. But I have built several V8s and thought this could be a nice challenge and surprise a lot of people if everything works out.

And I plan on sticking around here...I also post on fbody.com and ls2.com a lot.

I am in E. Mesa btw.

There are some pics of the car:

Thanks for the link.

I'm not trying to be arrogant or anything because I am far from that type of person. But if everything goes as planned and works out I am hoping for mid 11...But hell 11s perioud in a 3.8 is pretty damn impressive to me! As is 12s!

Looks like there is some pretty strong running V6s which is nice to see!

If you are working off a 3.8L series II VUper will be your best competition..

If you are talking about a guy with a non-3.8L series II motor but still a v6 and turboed, I know someone that will give you a run for your money. But can't say anything about anyone until their cars are built and running

Good luck on the project.

If your talking 4th Gen V6's... There's a guy that's been featured in High Performance Pontiac that doesn't qualify for this site's timeslips page that is running 10.30's with a 1993 Formula with a GNX engine pushing 22lbs of boost.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
