  • How would you move?

In about 4 weeks, I am moving from central kansas to Northern VA. It is about 1,300 miles.

I am junking all of my cheap walmart furniture and only bring a few items:

-ALL of my tools. I have a pretty big 8 drawer tooxbox.
-All of my spare parts. About 3 boxes worth.
    -Nitto Radials on 16" rims.
-Most of my clothes. I don't have much in that department.
-All of my legos and model cars.

I wanted to rent a Uhaul and trailer, and tow my camaro home, but I just got a quote. $1700 Freaking dollars!! I will push my car before I pay that much.

Now that my plans are ruined, I am looking for other options. I was thinking about this: Putting my legos, models, and DR's in my camaro, and driving it to VA. SHip everything else UPS. It would be the most ghetto moving procedure ever, but I could easily ship everything else for under $300.

I have lots of friends with pickup trucks, but they would never let me borrow them for a 2400 mile round trip.

    What would you guys do?

I better not hear anyone suggest towing a trailer behind my camaro. I am NOT doing that. That is even more ghetto than shipping everything.

Yeah right. We all know that the awsome 225 Lb ft of torque would wheeze and die under a 4500 lb load.

Especially while driving up the apalachian mountains in west VA.

DOn't you think that camaros with tow hitches are hideous?

obviously go with the cheapest route... UPS

But they might break some of your stuff... don't ship valuables.

would you even consider the shipphing method? that seems like the easiest way. You ship the **** off... head over to the new place.. sleep a day, wake up, and having it waiting out by your front door.. and you didnt even have to tip!

The legos are staying with me. Valuables need to be kept safe.

My shipping idea is looking better all the time. I am actually shipping the stuff to my moms house. I am gonna be stationed at a base that is 26 miles from her house.

Trust me, camaro hitches are crappy and terrible.

i've seen a hitch on a 3.4 camaro. it looked like a trailor park trash thing... plus the poor camaro didnt look like its been washed for years. The person lives like 3 blocks away from me.. but i do see him every once in a while with it, towing either a single jetski or a chopper.

Enterprise only has S-10s and dakotas. THose would choke and die pulling a trailer up a mountain.

I have checked a few other companies. Budget has nothing available in the dates I need. Hertz is only for airport customers. etc...

UPS looks best for me. It gives me ultimate flexibility. I can ship the stuff right after school gets out, and leave whenever I want. My GF will be heartbroken, so I will no doubt stay here a few extra days.

UPS'n your stuff is not that bad of an idea, plus you probably could get more than you think in your camaro.
When I had my 92 camaro I moved my entire bedroom including

Disasembled bed and matress, 20inTv, Computer with 17inctr, file cabinets, disasemled computer desk, and 8 large boxes of stuff, and all my cloths. I had the hatch all the way up and everything tied under a tarp.

With the back seat down and the hatch up, its like a truck bed.

</font>[/QUOTE]The Enterprise branches here rent Rams and Silverados and a couple years ago we had a brand new 02 Ram Quadcab 4x4 as a warranty rental from them when we first got our Trailblazer. Maybe try another town. I know the Enterprise 30 miles away ususally only has S-10s.

I was going to rent one to help a friend move up here from Southern California next month because it would cost her like $700 to rent a U-Haul and it was like $60 a day for a Silverado.
