  • Dark Days with the Po-nac

Just wondered if anyone else out there has been having major car issues lately. All within the last two weeks my transmission, driveshaft, and steering pump all clunked out on me.

The positive is that when I got the tranny rebuilt (2600 bucks) they built it allot of fresh goodies. Stage-3 shift kit, 3200 stall TC, and a bunch of other buffed misc stuff. While they were down there they noticed the u-joints going on my driveshaft so I had them swap me to a single piece aluminum.

Ive been out of the game for a while, disheartened with the car due to issues. But now that shes all fixed up here I am again. Times to post soon.

Anyone else with the black cloud of car issues hanging around their heads?

lol, dont even get me started. I will just say yes yes and yes and it blows. The part that really drives me over the damn edge is it is still under the damn warranty but the fukers at the dealership are to incompetent to do anything about it...

nothing major really... new starter: $230. and i need my front bumper and driver's side mirror refinished and repainted. my power lock button on the passenger side is broken but i'm not worried about that. i sit on the driver's side anyway lol. oh and my power antenna too. nothing big, except the starter was kinda freaky. it would take half an hour to get the car started to get it to the shop before it'd die out again.

To rebuild a 4l60e by yourself it costs about $300-$400 OEM.

mine was only $180. the rest was labor and ****. if you can do it yourself, you'll save somewhere around $50.

the reason i didn't do it myself was because my dad was getting ready to leave for a trip and he is really good with cars, so whatever i do to my car, he's the one i have tell me how to do it. not do it for me, but tell me what to do so i can start learning more about cars and how they work and all that. so instead of being stranded for a week, i paid $50 to have it installed professionally.

Well lets see, ill try to remember the breakdown of how it went:

Restalled/Rebuilt TC from 2800 to 3200 now, supposedly they added a plate and some other misc to it so it was more "heavy duty"

                      Stage-3 4l60e shift kit

(now this one im not quite sure if I understand) extra clutches between 2-3,3-4 for cleaner shifting

Transmission rebuilt with kevlar parts for added durability

                      B&M transmission cooler

then he said they used some parts in it that they use on the corvette, forget which they were though.

The single piece aluminum driveshaft purchase/install was included in the price of the transmission rebuild.

I'm living at Ohio State right now and don't really drive my car now. But when I get back I need to fix my exhaust. I think something broke, as it rattles bad when I hit bumps and start off slow in 1st gear. Bleh.
