  • New protein powder/shake ideas?

i'm getting tired of drinking chocolate and vanilla powders before and after i workout. sometimes before i'll just mix the powder w/ water and after i usually make a shake w/ water, strawberries, sometimes banana, and ice in the blender. i've been doing this for 2 years and this routine is getting old.

what are some good brands/flavors of protein to buy? i've had everything from gnc brand, isopure, n large, etc. my favorite so far has been pro complex, but i just can't choke down another chocolate or vanilla flavor anymore. what are some good recipies for shakes after a workout? let me know what you guys have come up w/. designer protein strawberry was delicious... if you add a scoop or two of ice cream to any of those shakes a whole new door is opened for you.

i dunno, i was more in tune with my pre-workout diet to make sure i had enough water, starch/carbs, and sugar (usually a nice big apple, a quart of steamed rice, and water throughout the day) to make it through the workout. then i came home and gorged myself.

Protein shakes arent supposed to taste like baskin robbins. Real men dont care. You didnt see Rocky complaining when he downed a few raw eggs

Perhaps you could substitute water with chocolate milk, swirl in some Hershey's Syrup and whip cream though

if its the flavor you are getting tired of i use Strawberry flavored protein powder. It from optimum nutrition and has 55g per serving.

Oh, and why use water?? are you lactose intolerant or just hate milk? because depending on the milk you use you can added up to 12 more grams (i used Hoods carb countdown ...but only cause i'm on low carb diet....but reg milk adds like 8 more)

water is cheaper and is more quickly digested for post-workout. But milk tastes better. I've never tried juice yet

i haven't had a glass of milk in years. i used to drink it all the time as a kid, now i can't drink it w/o messing up my stomach. i have acid reflux so any kind of acidic juice is out of the question. water is just so easy to use and cheap.

thats how the pros did it back in the day. now we have progressed into making supplements to get all our nutrients instead of eating steaks, eggs, and tuna everyday. w/ so much stuff out there, why not find something that tastes good to make it easier to drink.

                Protein before workout? Hmm...

It's complex carbs 30-40mins before workout (for energy), protein right after.

Protein around 30 minutes after your last set.

EAS Chocolate Protein. 22g per serving, double servings per shake = 44g of whey. 96 servings per tub, $23 per tub at BJ's.

Best bang for the buck, and tastes good too. I mix with water, helps absorb better and doesnt leave me feeling bloated like milk did. Gotta be real COLD water tho, like ice water.

Protien Delight has a lot of different flavors, mixes well with water, and already has some small fruit pieces out of the container!
