Can determine the sidewall and rim size of a tire by just the tread patterm

Last time I checked, a 245/65/17 will leave the same tread pattern as a 245/60/14

I love to hate this show

well, technically now they well NOT leave the same print.

the 14 inch tire has a much bigger sidewall than the 17 inch tire. not to mention that a 245 series tire on a 14 inch wheel will no doubt have more "footprint" in the center of the tread than the 17 inch.

If both tires are the same width, 245 in this case, how would you tell the difference?

But that wouldn't have anything to do with tire pressure eh? I'd have to say an over inflated tire will give the same results.

On a side note. Has anyone noticed Fear Factor changed to destroying Fox Body Mustangs for their last show rather then the 3rd gen F bodies?

Not that everyone keeps OEM tires and wheels anyways. Then they'd be screwed.

"Can determine the sidewall and rim size of a tire by just the tread patterm"

Well, determining the tread width is trivial. That would narrow it down a lot. Maybe they can tell the diameter by measuring the distance between tread features?? That would complete the job.
