• The Day After Tomorrow

I don't know if any of you saw this yet, but it is a killer movie. The effects were unbelievable. The scary thing is that those events could actually happen, but are not likely to occur for a long, long, long time if at all. Highly recommended Besides, can't beat a $1.50 seat!

.. it took 10 days from start to finish.. yeah right

yeah, there are plausable theories that stuff like that could happen, but like you said it wont happen for a long time, and also.. it wont take 10 days for the world to freeze over

The things in that movie would take an incredible ecological shock (meteor, massive nuclear war) or in millions of years it could slowly occur naturally.

Sorry... As a scientist, I had a hard time enjoying the movie.

                  hahah

                  that movie was rediculous...

OHH NOESS!!! THE KILLER FREEZING WIND IS CHASING ME I BETTER RUN FASTER!

Special effects were cool but that movie definitely needed some comedy relief in it. Pop in Independence day for a good light hearted disaster movie.

The irony of the movie is that scientists say that the pollution and overuse of natural resources will cause this mess.

Yet in the end the only people getting around were driving gas guzzling 4 wheel drive, trucks and hummers, while the scientist were likely stuck in the snow in their honda insight

Scientists used to say we were doomed because of that. The majority of scientists now realize they were just being idiots and the media blew what they said out of proportion lol.

i did see something on discovery channel a few months ago about the global circulation of ocean currents.. and that if a large enough chunk of polar ice fell in and melted it would disrupt the relative temperature and salt content disrupting the sinking of water from the gulf stream once it gets north.. and not sure of specifics.. but i think they said it would effect the climate a bit if the whole oceanic conveyer belt of water stopped running

Don't watch the discovery channel. All its shows are built to get ratings not to inform anyone. They use alot of information out of context and distort facts. Kinda like a Michael Moore movie...

Firestorm, the idea is right, but the porportion. Let me put it into these terms for you. This movie was like a ricer saying that he got 50hp from a muffler. Sure, the reality is that he got some horsepower, but when he says that he got 50, are you going to believe him?

                          -Justin

P.S. The discovery channel is the dumb salesman that said that he would get 10 or so....

oh i totally know justin.. i was just saying the science is not totally off.. there are theories that say what initially started the problems in the movie is plausable

from there its a little off base.. like i said before.. 10 days and were in an ice age? i dont think so.. i totally agree that there was SOO much that was not even close to real science..
