  • Is it safe to wash a car cover

Well Calif. is on fire again. My car cover is covered in ash and sooth and it even got into my car.

I've hosed it, wash it and everything but the very small ashes are still there. it just seem they won't come off.

My wife bought me the cover as a present and it cost her over $200. The cover was actually for Ford Thunderbird, my wife thought it was for my Firebird. I know, she doesn't know cars. It has a big Ford Racing logo on it. Which I don't mind and it fits great.

I want to take it to the laundry mat and put it in a big washer and use detergent. Hopefully that will get rid of the ashes and some of the cat pee that's on it.

It doesn't have any label where it say safe to wash or what kind of material it is. It is high quality though that for sure. Do you think it's safe?

Various car covers are made using various different fabrics, and have very different care requirements. You really need to check with the manufacturer.

I have a quality car cover and it says specifically to machine wash using a light detergent.
