I cant remember the site I used to buy books when I was in college. I went through AMazon some, but there was another one.... damn alzheimers. Most all books were 10%-50% cheaper depending than campus store depending on what it was.

By end of semester you had to lock all your books up, leave NOTHING at studio or lounges cause that **** would get stolen and sold back at the campus store. I know people who made mad like a grand a semester snatching books and then selling them back.

The only thing they change in their "new editions" is the freakin cover!

A lot of my classes let us use old books if we can get them for cheaper because there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DIFFERENT!!!

      If you're learning math...
Is 2 + 2 not going to equal 4? lol
Why do they need a new book?

I've had some pretty expensive books.. the UCI bookstore is probably the WORST one on earth. Buy a new book for over $150 and if you sell it back to them, they'll give you like $20 for it, THEN sell it USED for over $100!

Amen to that, half.com is where I get all my books too. I run to the campus book store and buy my books, then come home and order them off eBay. It takes a couple extra days, and then I return the books back to the campus book store. I get a lot of my books in brand new condition for seriously half price of the bookstore.

I hate the new edition crap...

I sometimes get odl editiond free form freinds, and still break down and buy the new addition, because during an online quize the more books the merrier, and damn if the books are not nearly identical, maybe 4-5 pages off from one another, but word for word same material.

Its bullsh|t, and honestly it really pisses me off that they jack up the prices for students like that.

go to half.com and sell your books, don't sell em back to the bookstore, they will try to rape you. My last book for my final MBA class was $120 new, (no used avail) they were gonna give me $36 to buy it back at the bookstore, same book is going for $90+ on ebay. If you must buy books from the bookstore sell em back through half or ebay. Don't support the cycle of greed if you don't have to.

I buy the international editions. They are not legal for sale in the US, but they can be sold used. So I buy them used, but then they show up shrink wrapped anyway. Paid $40 for a new book that was $98 used at the book store. Another one the same thing. And the 3rd one was $60 vs $120. All new. So now you guys know how much your university bookstores are ripping you off. Same exact books are sold oversees for $10-$20 and they manage to turn a profit. Hmmmmmm. Reminds me of the other things they mark-up just in this country like diamonds. 100% markup at the minumum for same exact diamond vs the prices in India for example.

I will take care of these books and probably sell them for the same price when I'm done.

I used to use Half.com for my textbooks back in the day when I went to UT.

Anyway, I spent $150 on books for my first unit today. Really, you can't get the med texts for any cheaper on half.com so it is just more convenient to go to the bookstore here. Each individual text for med school is actually cheaper than the ones I usually had to get back at UT so that is nice.
