No, this is why there is much debate in Congress about the renewal of the Act.

The Uniting and Strengthening America By Providing Appropriate Tools Required To Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (H.R. 3162, the "USA PATRIOT Act") allows law enforcement agencies to delay giving notice when they conduct a search. This means that the government could enter a house, apartment or office with a search warrant when the occupant was away, search through they property and take photographs, and in some cases seize physical property and electronic communications, and not tell them until later.

This has been called "Sneak and Peek".
</font>[/QUOTE]That has nothing to do with this. They didn't have a search warrant. And no, nobody let them in, and I also said we aren't going to take any action because it'll do nothing but cause grief. Just makes me mad they went ahead and did it and theres really not too much action you can take that won't effect us later on down the road. :(

Thats one of the things I hate about cops they have too much power...
Yes what they did is very illegal...however they are the law. You call them on it and take it to court or complain they will be on your ***. Even if you did try to do something about it, it would be your word agianst theirs and who will they believe..punk kids or fellow law enforcement.

Good luck on everything though I know if it happened to me, even knowing it would make my life a living hell I would go after them for taking away my rights.

.....as I see it, they werent following the letter of the law by letting themselves in, HOWEVER, they were responding to a complaint and you guys werent exactly legal either (underage drinking).

Attempting to sue wont get you anywhere. They will get a slap on the wrist, and you will waste a lot of time money and effort, not to mention them really getting down on you in the future (like youve already acknowledged).

I would be happy that you avoided trouble and find a new place to party. Underage drinking is all about taking risks more than its a right, right?

Actually, re-reading your description of the situation, I'm more amazed that they left and didnt persue a 'Providing alcohol to a minor' charge against the owner.

Yea, well it was our bad luck there was only 2 people that were minors at the party and one was the very first person the cops walked into. And she is a real b**ch when she wants to be. So instead of lying, shes like, yea, im not 21, what are you going to do about it?! Which is dumb, I know, but the way he grabbed her by the collar, yanked her to the wall, it just set her off. Still, dumb of her to say that.

Anyway like I said in every post, we wont be taking any action and never were going to, its too much hassle, and too risky. I was just wondering for my own sake to see if I had anything to be rightfully mad over. Im really mad that the entire party got broken up and it had to have been one of the best we had all year... :( Heh.

And ellik, they might have not placed charges on the owner either because they were being nice, and by the way they treated us, I doubt that, or they kind of knew they shouldnt have been there as it was brought to their attention multiple times and figured it was probably best they didn't.

Sorry, this post was meant to be two lines, but I talk alot, lol.
