  • been thinking about the Formy engine....

currently it has the stock tired 400 & th350. I have a 400 block in garage and was planning on getting a 455 stroker kit for it. I've been reading super chubby and their 5.3 modern mouse series, and they've gotten some hilatious hp/tq with just heads/cam/intake.

which one to get...... the stroker kit is roughly $1400 for just the rotating assembly, pick-a-parts should have a good selection of donors w/trannies for close to if not cheaper for 5.3s.

    which one to get........

It's your money, but IMO, there's no replacement for displacement

I am building a 400 right now..... Stick with that, the 400 (6X if you have them) heads are better than the 455 heads because of valve size and alot of guys put 400 heads on 455s for that reason, plus you can hop up a 400 just as easy as a 455 without the stroker kit. I am building a 400 right now that is going to have around 500 hp on a 400. Just get the heads milled on both sides, port and polish em, get a good intake and carb and cam, and some file fit rings among other things and that thing will truly surprise.

the heads from the spare block are 6x-8,so they not from a W72 engine (may practice port/polish on them). I just got a performer intake off e-bay, as the torker that's on it sucks for the way I will be enjoying this car.

might go for a built 200-4r swap, as overdrive is nice, and the B-O-P bolt pattern is mucho handy. was going to do a T-10 swap in it, but my left foot in cast right now, and probably would aggravate post recovery any way so gonna have to sell it.

of course if 5.3, then 4L60E/80E, and the ease & frustration of fuel injection.

the myans foresaw this swap, i always knew you were the key to the world ending, and now we know that it'll be a single engine fire that sets things off
