So I'm planning on attending a ton of road racing events this year. The weight shaving has begun.

    Hehehehe :D.

Got a video of how loud it is inside the car now:

Your Camaro is so nice I just hate seeing it being gutted like that. But hey, it's your car.

How much weight did you shave off so far?

I think you should slap back that PD and see how it would do in drag racing.

        Re: Camaro Superleggera

I haven't finished gutting it yet, so I haven't weighed it out. I'm considering polycarbonate front/rear glass replacement too. Seems like about another 50lb of weight shedding.

It still looks good on the outside. I'm sure some race seats and a roll bar will make it an acceptable look once I'm done. Most of the trim can be put back in if I wanted to undo. I think only 1 piece broke.

The front window is street legal, the rear polycarbonates are though

Not too worried about street legal at this point. If I wanted to make it street legal again replacement glass isn't that expensive. Track by me is going to be offering storage/garages soon, so I may just leave the car there instead of using a trailer.

Superleggera looks like it could use some lightweight wheels. ;)

If you haven't already, you might take a look at VFN Fiberglass for some lighter body panel replacements.

Yea I'm talking to a guy that has some very light weight OZ wheels for sale that would fit.

It would be nice to change out the hood to fiberglass for sure.

there was a guy on her named craig(probably 9 years ago) who really did alot of weight reduction. full n/a car with no weight and did 13's. nuts. he even drilled 4 inch hole under his hood where it is double reinforced.

Yea I need to look into getting the weight off the front a little bit for some added balance for road racing. I don't want it to be boring because the v6 is slow on the straights and the car is too heavy on the corners. I'm hoping a serious diet for this car will yield some fun on the track.

I just did this too. I was amazed at how much came off, after only an hour or so of labor. Keep this updated, are you planning on removing a/c and whatnots?
