  • Got a new jack

Just picked up a craftsman 3 ton floor jack, 2x 3-ton jack stands and a creeper
for $109 at sears. Seemed like a pretty good price. The jack is a full size
service jack, not one of the mini ones. If anybody needs a new one, it might
be a good investment. It all comes in a kit. They sell the jack by itself for $99.
Beware though, the jack weighs almost 100 pounds (not for carrying around
    in your trunk.)

(not trying to advertise for sears - probably the first time I've bought something
    from them in 4-5 years.)

    Re: Got a new jack

    honestly...

Go return it, do some google searches about "Craftsman jack fail".. I have one. I took it apart and rebuilt the cylinder, but its just crappy o-rings, I got at hardware stores, it works but I don't trust a car on it, I use it for like dropping a tank, or balancing a rear axle.

as sad as it is... the best bang for the buck is the aluminum floor jack from Harbour freight... Mine has lasted at least 3-4 times longer then the craftsman.

Well crap. Maybe they have fixed the problem. Craftsman has always served me well.
Been using their stuff for 25+ years and the only thing that has ever failed me is a
socket or two. I always put the stands under the car, anyway.

I've never had a single issue with my 7 year old craftsman 3 ton jack. You sure the 3 ton models fail? I could see the 2 tons failing.

I have this one, http://ww.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12...2&blockType=G2 i dont trust it as far as I can throw it. First one e got wheels were welded so they couldnt move, from the factory. The rear casterswere all bent up (right out of box) so we immediately took it back. The new one we got takes for ever to jack a car up. Overall NOT SATISFIED
Just a v6 with a few mods, no big plans :bs:

I've had that same jack for about 3 years now and it has been awesome. I've had no trouble with it.

Heard *****fits about them on ls1tech and camaroz28.com as well....

I admit its a better jack then my harbour freight one... when it works... I got mine in like 2003-4 Don't know exactly when, made it a little over a year. I had gotten my harbour freight jack to replace it. Then later tore it down and replaced the seals with crap from a hardware store.

But with crap rubber seals... I don't trust it.
