hey guys im looking for your apenyen on my next project, im looking at getting another f-body to build as a street/strip car becaues my 01 firebird is a great car but its a v6 and is good has a daily driver but i would like to have a v8 car to play with on the weekends you now . I was wondering what gen do you all think would a good one to start with

    98-02 (preferably 99+) LS1 car.

Obvious answer is obvious... especially on a board that primarily caters to 4th gens. If budget is a problem, 3rd gen V8s have much more affordable options. Or if you get lucky, a late 2nd gen would be good too, but then you're looking at restoring other aspects.

    FYI, it's "opinion". ;)

I would look for a '99-'02 as well because they are starting to get affordable, you don't have to restore it like other generations(rust!), and if you get a hardtop more structurally rigid than any other gen w/ mods. Not to mention you will still have good gas mileage and drive-ability.

Personally I think 2nd gen ones are the easiest to play around with.

1st gen are lighter than 2nd, and more 'glass parts available. headers are diff, but collectors back is same. Birds look better, but comero's have more parts about them

I think you're best bang for the buck would be an LS1 - LS2 car. IMO anything older is more trouble than its worth.

I've had a 1st & 3rd gen and I was more than happy to see them go.

Be a little different. There are a million 4th gens out there.

Go with a 2nd gen and put a 4th gen drivetrain in it. It'll turn heads and drive like a new car.

You can pick up a roller in decent shape under $2000.

I recommend a "spelling and grammar are your friends" online course instead of a second car.

                        Lmao!!!

If you go with a 4th gen, get an 02. Better cam, better pcm, no egr, better car. Of course that stuff can be changed on an older one... but just saying.
