  • A great day today

Today, my family volunteered for 1/2 day in a soup kitchen, preparing for and serving food to 125 persons who are less fortunate than ourselves.

What a great experience. Yes, the circumstances of so many people was not great - that is why they are at a soup kitchen. However, more importantly, we were able to meet many people, share and care with them on a very human, personal level.

I strongly recommend you do this sometime soon. You will not only help others, you will help yourself.

I am a lucky man. My wife arranged for this work for my family and a few youth from our church. My wife is, as stated in the Book of Proverbs, "an unfailing prize."
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

    Re: A great day today

Beautiful. I run a movie night most friday evenings with my Student Society, for the less fortunate. We give up a couple hours before going out Friday nights. To give the less fortunate a chance to get together and watch a movie is an awesome feeling. It's amazing to know something as simple as giving up two hours to run a movie and hand out snacks is so rewarding.

Religious or not it is a great thing.

That's really cool that you guys did that. Not being able to afford basics like food is horrible. This is a great way to help and you know you're giving them something they really need, nourishment (ie. not beer, drugs, etc...) I generally don't like to give cash to people that come up at the gas stations and stop lights. Once in a while I'll do it in the rare cases where for some reason it just feels right. I generally prefer to donate to a local program that gives food and those space blankets to the homeless/poor. This is definitely a great alternative.

I volunteer at a local skate park in the summer. it's like a youth for Christ type thing. It's only a couple nights a week. But I can see feeding the less fortunate being more fulfilling.

Still, great things coming from you guys!
Nice to see all Camaro/bird owners aren't too stubborn and selfish
          Wait, Is that a V6 or V8?

Wrong. Correct for the few who speak out and down on everyone else and then give us a bad reputation.

Heh, they all seem to have an attitude here in TX. I once called G-Force (local shop) and asked about getting my V6 tuned. I got an incredibly rude response.
